MANILA – President Rodrigo Duterte took a break from politics and governance Thursday as he welcomed American actor Stephen Baldwin and discussed the latter’s daughter’s engagement with pop superstar Justin Bieber. Baldwin paid a courtesy call on the President at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Taguig City. The Hollywood actor opened his conversation with the President what he thinks about his daughter Hailey’s engagement with Bieber. “The President responded that as long as Mr. Bieber truly believes in the sanctity of marriage, Mr. Baldwin has nothing to worry about,” Special Assistant to the President Bong Go said in a statement. Bieber and Hailey dated in 2016 but had broken up. Last month, they appeared together publicly, leading to speculation from fans that they had rekindled their romance, CNN reported. The pair recently got engaged during a trip to the Bahamas, E! News said. Baldwin is in the Philippines to shoot for the movie “Kaibigan,” which will also feature Palace communications assistant secretary Mocha Uson as a reporter. Film producer Tarney Perkins said the story’s themes include faith, family, and friendship. Go said Baldwin invited Duterte to attend the premiere of the movie sometime in October or November this year. The actor also praised Duterte’s style of governance, Go said.
