MANILA, Philippines – To say that the barangay has not been kind to Arwind Santos in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup Finals is putting it mildly. Ginebra’s thousands of fans have packed the Araneta Coliseum throughout the first three games of the best-of-7 finals. Their primary goal, of course, is to show support for the Gin Kings, but for the past couple of games, they’ve added another item to their check list. Boo San Miguel forward Arwind Santos – every chance they get. The barangay hurls insults at Santos every time he checks into the games, every time he touches the ball, and every time he puts up a shot. They jeer whenever he misses, hiss whenever he converts. When Santos was thrown out with five minutes left in Game 2 last Sunday, the barangay serenaded him on his way to the dugout. READ: No answer for SMB’s Death Star “Wala akong comment doon,” Santos said of being branded as Barangay Ginebra’s public enemy No. 1. “Focused lang ako sa game namin, dahil napaka-importante ng conference na ito para sa amin,” he added. “Kung may naiinis man sa akin, isa lang ang gagawin ko: pray. ‘Yun lang.” Truthfully, Santos is not even the biggest thorn on Ginebra’s side in the Commissioner’s Cup finals.
