MANILA – A Quezon City court deferred on Thursday the hearing of the disobedience to summons case of Sen. Leila de Lima. The Quezon City Metropolitan Trial Court Branch 34 moved the hearing to Aug. 30. House leaders in December filed the case against De Lima, a staunch critic of President Rodrigo Duterte, for advising her former driver and lover Ronnie Dayan against attending congressional inquiries into her alleged involvement in the drug trade. Judge Ma. Ludmila De Pio Lim ordered the prosecution to comment first on Dayan’s motion to quash the subpoena filed against him. Dayan argued that he no longer has to testify at Branch 34 since he is also facing a similar case at Branch 35 of the same court. The prosecution was given 15 days to comment. De Lima, who has been detained over drug charges since February last year, attended the hearing but made no comment. – report from Raya Capulong, ABS-CBN News
