MANILA – President Rodrigo Duterte is set to fly to Singapore next week to meet regional and world leaders in the city-state, a foreign affairs official said Friday. Duterte will attend the 33rd Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit from November 13 to 15 along with other Southeast Asian leaders, Foreign Affairs Assistant Secretary for ASEAN Affairs Juniver Mahilum-West told reporters. Russian President Vladimir Putin and US Vice President Mike Pence will also be in attendance, Mahilum-West said. The DFA did not confirm who will represent Australia, China, India, Japan, and South Korea during the ASEAN Summit. Some 4 to 5 leaders have asked to meet Duterte on the sidelines of the regional meet, she said without naming which countries wanted to have bilateral meetings with the Philippine delegation. Among the issues expected to be discussed in the Summit are tensions in the South China Sea, the denuclearizatrion of North Korea, and global economy.
