The title unification bout between bantamweight champion Nonito “The Filipino Flash” Donaire Jr. and his Zolane Tete is in danger of being shelved. The fight was supposed to be featured as a bantamweight semifinal in the World Boxing Super Series (WBSS). But according to RingTV, WBSS might be discontinued due to financial troubles. READ: Donaire believes he can stop South Africa’s Tete “The semifinals are slated for February and March, and the matchups are set, but as of now, there’s been no sites secured for any of the six bouts; no dates, either. The second round of the tournament is jeopardy of falling apart, per sources, but there’s hope the board will solve the issues,” the report said. The report also indicated that several fighters have still yet to get their victory bonuses. There are 24 boxers who entered WBSS Season 2, which features cruiserweights, bantamweights and junior welterweights. For more sports coverage, visit the ABS-CBN Sports website.
