The wait for a second Miss World title for the Philippines continues. This, after the country’s bet, Katarina Rodriguez, failed to make it past the first cut of the pageant, the coronation night of which is currently being held Saturday in Sanya, China. Confirmed initially in the top 30 were representatives from the following countries, all of whom were guaranteed a spot in the next round after winning various pre-pageant events — Bangladesh, Chile, France, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Mauritius, Mexico, Nepal, New Zealand, Singapore, Thailand, Uganda, the US, Venezuela and Vietnam. Another 13 were determined through pre-coronation night judging — China, Cook Islands, Belarus, Belgium, Northern Ireland, Russia, Scotland, Nigeria, South Africa, Panama, Barbados, Jamaica and Martinique. Megan Young remains the only Filipina to win Miss World, back in 2013.
