Truck breaks down, snarls traffic on EDSA Robertzon Ramirez (The Philippine Star) – May 18, 2019 – 12:00am MANILA, Philippines — Vehicles crawled along EDSA yesterday morning after a truck figured in an accident along Main Avenue in Quezon City. Bong Nebrija, traffic chief of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), said the truck slid after it lost its brakes, obstructing the flow of traffic on EDSA. Nebrija said the accident caused a traffic jam from Main Avenue to the Ortigas flyover as the truck occupied three lanes. Authorities said the truck hit a van and rammed 12 traffic barriers along the highway. No one was reported injured during the accident. MMDA personnel took more than one hour to remove the truck at the site. Roads closed for repair The MMDA closed last night several roads in the metropolis to allow for repairs of the Department of Public Works and Highways. Closed to motorists are the southbound lane of EDSA going to Aurora Boulevard, Magallanes in Makati, New York street in Quezon City and C-5 in Taguig. These roads will be opened to traffic on Monday morning. The MMDA urged commuters to look for alternate routes to avoid inconvenience.
