Jenna Bush Hager has shared photos of a sweet moment that she shared with her two daughters, before recalling one of her own fondest childhood memories.
The 37-year-old Today host posted several candid snaps of six-year-old Mila and four-year-old Poppy having a whale of a time while enjoying an evening out at the Museum of Ice Cream in New York City on Monday, when they had the chance to swim in a giant sundae and play in a pretty pink ball pit.
And hours after the fun-filled night, Hager opened up about her own youth, revealing that she, her twin sister Barbara and their parents, former president George W. and his wife Laura, used to exclusively refer to one another by ‘cat names’ after they all went to see the Broadway musical Cats.

‘When we were little, we only went by cat names,’ Hager told a rather surprised Hoda Kotb on Tuesday morning.
‘My mom was Marmalade, my dad was Tommy Tough… This was I think after we saw the Broadway show.’
At this point, the Today producers took matters into their own hands in order to bring Hager’s quirky story to life – bringing up a picture of the TV host’s face that had been edited on to Taylor Swift’s cat character from the upcoming movie adaptation of the musical Cats.
‘Thank y’all so much for making my Christmas miracle come true!’ Hager yelled in excitement, while seductively growling at the cameras.
‘I was Stripes,’ she then said, recalling her own cat name – before once again getting distracted when the producers flashed up a snap of Kotb’s face on Judi Dench’s cat body, prompting a horrified look from the 55-year-old.
‘Why did you make her so furry?’ Hager questioned, before concluding her story: ‘Anyway, we were cats, we would only be called by them.’
And it seems the keen interest in musical cats is something that runs in the family – at least when it comes to Hager and her eldest child Mila.
‘I took Mila to see the Broadway show of cats, my mom and I took her,’ Hager shared. ‘And she loved it so much! And my mom kept saying, “Mila [who was three], what’s your favorite cat?”
‘And Mila would go: “The one with the boobs!”‘
Memories! During the Today show on Tuesday, Hager revealed that she and her family used to only refer to each other by cat names, while producers turned her into a Cats character
Feline funny? Her co-host Hoda Kotb also got the Cats treatment, however she didn’t seem as excited about it as Hager
Quirky: Hager shared that her mother Laura went by the cat name Marmalade, her dad, former president George W. Bush, was Tommy Tough, and she was Stripes
Mystery: The Today host, pictured center as a child, did not get the chance to reveal what her twin sister Barbara, left, preferred as a cat name
Hager is no doubt relishing being able to spend quality time with her daughters, after being away from them for a few days when she joined former FLOTUS Michelle Obama on a trip to Vietnam, where they helped to promote female education alongside Julia Roberts and Lana Condor.
As she prepared to make her way back to the US after the speedy trip, mother-of-three Hager expressed her longing to reunite with her children by sharing adorable snaps of them on her Instagram account.
The Today anchor traveled to Vietnam to meet with Michelle, 55, ahead of the Obama Foundation’s inaugural Leaders: Asia-Pacific convening in Malaysia, however despite clearly enjoying the trip, Hager couldn’t hide her excitement at the idea of returning to her kids in New York City.
‘Headed home. Thank goodness for FaceTime and CAN’T wait to hold this one and her sissy and brother,’ Hager wrote on her Instagram Story while sharing a picture of four-year-old daughter, Poppy.
It appears Hager caught her daughter during one of her meals for a FaceTime session while overseas.
The child grinned at her mom while snacking on food during the FaceTime.
Another picture on Hager’s Story showed her newborn baby Henry ‘Hal’, whom she gave birth to in August of this year. ‘Coming for you my angel babe,’ she captioned the image.
Then the final image Hager shared was one of Poppy and her older sister Margaret ‘Mila’, six, playing out in the rain in New York City.
‘Can’t wait to kiss these faces,’ the mom-of-three expressed.

Goodbye! Hager’s final picture shared on her Instagram Story showed her waving goodbye to Vietnam before heading back to New York City
Hager’s trip to Vietnam was short but sweet, with the former first daughter sharing a photo with Obama to explain her role in the promotion of girls’ education during the convention.
‘In Vietnam with some inspirational women who are fighting every day for their education and @michelleobama who is shining a spotlight on their incredible stories,’ Hager wrote, praising the first lady’s initiative.
Another post by Hager showed the anchor hugging a child named Nhu while sharing the girl’s personal story.
Baby boy: She also shared a picture of her newborn son, Henry ‘Hal’ Hager, when sharing her excitement to come home
‘She lives in a tiny, dirt-floored, tin-roofed home with eleven of her family members,’ Hager wrote about Nhu. ‘She bikes over eight miles to school every day and faces daily pressure to drop out. BUT @roomtoread has helped pay her school fees and give her the confidence to stay in school.
‘She is why I left my precious girls (and Hal!) to come to Vietnam. And it is because of my girls that I came to tell her story. ALL girls no matter where they are born deserve an education.’
Hager and Obama were joined with other women including actress Julia Roberts, actress Lana Condor, and YouTuber Liza Koshy when visiting the school in Vietnam.
This visit to the school marked the beginning of a four-day conference set to start in Malaysia on Tuesday, which Hager will not be attending.
During the conference in the Malaysian capital of Kuala Lumpur, Roberts and Obama will ‘share reflections about their trip to Vietnam, as well as lessons from their own leadership journeys and their path-breaking careers.’
Roberts has previously worked with the Obama Foundation. In January, she joined Meryl Streep, David Beckham, Anne Hathaway, Natalie Portman, Amy Poehler, and John Legend in a video to promote educating girls.
The pair will give a talk on Thursday which will be hosted by former Miss Malaysia and TV host Deborah Henry.
The event is closed to the public but will be livestreamed via the Obama Foundation’s website.
