The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average increased 5.39 points, or 0.02 percent, from Wednesday to 26,806.37. The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, rose 5.03 points, or 0.28 percent, at 1,779.00.
