Bersatu renews push to get Gabungan Rakyat Sabah registered as one entity

January 17, 2022 by www.thestar.com.my Leave a Comment

KOTA KINABALU: Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia is making another push for the ruling Gabungan Rakyat Sabah to be registered as a single political entity.

This time, its Armada state chief Fairuz Renddan (pic) made the call, saying that it was the best way to ensure political stability in the state.

The party's state information chief Khairul Firdaus Akbar recently made the same call, citing similar reasons.

Fairuz said unity among the different component parties within GRS would assure the people that they are sincere in carrying out their mandated duties.

He said this would also show voters that their voices had been heard and that promises made by GRS will be fulfilled.

"The people chose us to lead the state in the last election.

"We move as a team and it is important that we continue working as a team to achieve what has been promised to the rakyat," he said in a statement on Monday (Jan 17).

Fairuz said although the political situation was not as fluid as in Peninsular Malaysia at the moment, the registration of GRS would reinforce its position.

He also urged all leaders to work together to realise the Sabah Maju Jaya initiative that aims to benefit all Sabahans.

GRS comprises four Barisan Nasional parties (Umno, MCA, MIC and Parti Bersatu Rakyat Sabah), five Perikatan Nasional parties (Bersatu, Sabah STAR, SAPP, PAS and Gerakan) and Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS).

Previously, Sabah STAR, SAPP and PAS were among the few that spoke on the need to get GRS registered while Sabah Umno had said a thorough study was needed before making any decision on its registration.
