PETALING JAYA: Kobay Technology Bhd posted a net profit of RM14.52mil in the second quarter ended Dec 31, 2021, more than double from RM5.95mil a year ago, thanks to strong orders from the semiconductor and electrical and electronics (E&E) industries.
In a filing with Bursa Malaysia yesterday, the group said its revenue for the quarter almost tripled to RM92.83mil from RM35.80mil previously.
There was no dividend announced.
Cumulatively, for the first half of financial year 2022, Kobay's net profit doubled to RM24.24mil compared to RM11.18mil a year ago, on the back of a higher revenue of RM158.97mil from RM74.90mil previously.
In a statement, Kobay chief executive officer and managing director Datuk Seri Koay Hean Eng said the recent quarterly profit performance was a record-breaking quarter in the group over the past three decades.
"The elevated profit for the manufacturing division chiefly stemmed from growth in orders from our semiconductor and E&E customers.
"Other than that, we also benefitted from our new venture into the high-level assembly of advanced data server machines," he said.
