KUALA LUMPUR: The Bukit Apek and Bukit Saga hiking trails in Cheras will be closed to facilitate high voltage transmission work by Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB).

The Selangor Forestry Department had previously announced on its Facebook page that Bukit Saga and Bukit Apek were closed due to “safety reasons” starting June 5 until further notice.

A Selangor Forestry Department spokesman, in an SMS reply to The Star, said both hiking trails were involved in TNB’s project for the power management unit (PMU) Bentong-South to PMU Lenggeng alignment.

The spokesman said site preparation work was underway and Bukit Apek was located directly below the proposed TNB grid.

The Star has yet to receive a reply from TNB.
