Flights and ferry service have also been suspended in areas that will be directly hit by the typhoon which has slightly intensified on Monday as it heads west at 20 kph. Kummari is forecast to make a landfall in the provinces of Catanduanes and Albay on Monday night or early Tuesday morning. Ed Monreal, general manager of the Manila international airport authority, said that the airport will be closed from 11 a.m. on Tuesday until 11 p.m. "This is technically force majeure, and for safety of the passengers," Monreal told a news conference. Monreal said a total of 438 flights are going to be affected by the closure.
