PUNE: A short and affectionate conversation ensued when PM Narendra Modi met eight-year-old Umang, the daughter of Major Kunal Gosavi who was killed in a terror attack on an army camp at Nagrota in Jammu in 2016, on Saturday. “Aapse toh darna chahiye (I should be scared of you),” the PM said with a smile when the young girl told him that she was learning judo and had won a medal at a school competition. Umang and her mother, Uma, were a part of the group who met the Prime Minister on the occasion of the ‘Armed Forces Flag Day’ on Saturday morning. The meeting was facilitated by the state deputy director of sainik welfare officials. Army naik Nandakumar Chaware, who lost his leg in a mine blast in Jammu & Kashmir in 2008, four cadets from the National Cadet Corps (NCC), Subedar Sanjay Kumar Mohite from the sainik welfare office and NCC official Balasaheb Shinde were part of this group. Delhi: 55-year-old lives with husband’s body for days
NEW DELHI: Unable to bear the sudden death of her husband, a 55-year old woman continued living with his corpse for a couple of days. She told her nine-year-old daughter that her father was unwell and resting in the bedroom of their flat. The incident was reported from Kamla Market area in central Delhi. On Wednesday afternoon, the couple’s daughter went to check on her father and saw blood oozing from his mouth. She tried shaking him but the body had become stiff. She then informed her uncle who called up the police. According to the cops, the deceased was identified as Jay Kumar, who worked as a senior technician with the Indian Railways and was a heart patient. His wife Meena (55) teaches at a school run by the railways. Even when cops reached the Kumar residence, Meena refused to let them take away her husband’s body. Based on the body’s stiffness, doctors estimated that Kumar had died at least 24 hours ago. Teacher Blackens 9-year-old Student’s Face in Haryana School for Not Performing Well in Exam
Hisar: A teacher at a private school in Haryana’s Hisar allegedly painted the face of a nine-year-old girl black and paraded her inside the school for poor performance in a test. The incident enraged the family of the girl who staged a protest on Monday. The father of the class 4 student demanded the school to be closed as it allowed such an incident to take place, news agency ANI reported. The family of the girl said that the teacher painted the girl’s face with black colour and was paraded through the campus after she scored less in a test held on December 6. “She is in class 4. Even if she did not know the answer of the question, they should not have done this," her father was quoted as saying by ANI. Several students alleged that the teacher had punished them in the similar way, by painting their faces black, for not performing well in exams. Titwala resident arrested for killing 22-year-old daughter
The Thane Police Crime Branch on Monday arrested the father of a 22-year-old woman, whose dismembered body was recovered from a duffel bag in Kalyan.According to the Crime Branch officials, the matter came to light when an autorickshaw driver, who picked up a passenger from outside Kalyan railway station at 5.25 a.m. on Sunday, sensed a foul smell emanating from the back seat. When he asked the passenger about it, the man got off the vehicle and fled. The driver opened the bag and found the lower part of a body from the waist down. He then reported the incident to the police.The Mahatma Phule Chowk police registered a case of murder against unknown persons and started examining CCTV footage at Kalyan station. The Crime Branch, which was also probing the case, scanned the footage and spotted two men carrying the duffel bag out of a local train.
