Mumbai: Maharashtra reported 6,397 fresh COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, taking the cumulative caseload in the state to 21,61,467. The state saw 30 fatalities in the last 24 hours, pushing the overall death toll to 52,184, according to the state government. The total recoveries in the state reached 20,30,458, as it registered 5,754 additional recoveries in the last 24 hours. Covid: India records biggest single-day jump in 30 days
India's COVID-19 tally climbed to 1,10,96,731 on Sunday with 16,752 new infections, the highest in the last 30 days, according to Union health ministry data. Uttarakhand: Legal action to be taken against COVID-19 SOP violators in Kumbh
COVID-19 Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), the Uttarakhand State Disaster Management Department informed on Sunday, adding that SOPs will remain in force throughout the duration of the event. The Kumbh Mela will take place from April 1 to 30 in Haridwar this year amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. According to State Chief Secretary Om Prakash, People violating COVID-19 SOPs at 2021 Kumbh Mela Haridwar, will be prosecuted. All participants will have to register on the Kumbh Mela Administration 's official website and upload documents including a negative COVID-19 RT-PCR report, taken up to 72 hours prior, after which, an e-pass will be generated. "During the mela, pilgrims must maintain a distance of 6 feet and wear masks. Those coming from abroad will have to follow guidelines prescribed by the Union Health Ministry ," a statement quoted the Chief Secretary. Telangana launches COVID-19 vaccination program for senior citizens
Telangana government on Monday launched the Covid-19 vaccination program for the general public. During this phase, all people above the age of 60 years and those between 45-59 years of age and are suffering from comorbidities, will be given the vaccine, according to Director Public Health G. Srinivas Rao. On the first day, vaccination is open at 91 centers with a maximum capacity of 200 beneficiaries each and those have already registered through Cowin app will be allowed. Around 18,000 people will be eligible to get vaccinated on day 1. “There will be 46 private and 45 government hospitals involved in the launch program on Monday. To avoid overcrowding and to conduct this in an orderly manner we will be allowing only prior registrations via the CoWin app. Walk-in registrations will be carried out only from next week,” said Dr GS Rao, Director of Public Health of Telangana.
