KOLKATA: Adelaide Oval has a special place in the history of cricket, having hosted the first day-night Test in 2015. Two more day-night Tests have been held there subsequently, with head curator Damian Hough overseeing the pitch preparations in all three of them. He will also be in charge when Australia play their next pink-ball contest, against Pakistan from November 29 at the same venue. Having pioneered the cause of pink-ball cricket through trial and error, Hough’s advice could be useful for a venue conducting its first D/N Test. “There were quite a few challenges that we faced ahead of the D/N Test,” Hough told ToI from Adelaide. “With regard to the pitch, we changed our preparations and left much more grass on it than normal in an attempt to protect the ball as much as possible.
