IPL 2021: RR, Punjab Kings and SRH raise objection to BCCI venue decision
The 14th edition of the India Premier League (IPL) still at least a month away but three franchises – Rajasthan Royals, Punjab Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad – have questioned the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) decision to hold the T20 league in only six cities this year. Although, the BCCI is yet to officially announce the venues for IPL 2021, it is largely believed that Chennai, Bangalore, Kolkata, Delhi and Ahmedabad will be the venues for the league this year due to various COVID-19 restrictions in India. According to a leading cricket website, the BCCI have also kept the option open of hosting a few games in Mumbai – the home venue of defending IPL champions Mumbai Indians, although Maharashtra have recently imposed lockdown in certain cities due to rising COVID-19 cases. “We three teams will be badly affected. Fragrant mushrooms revitalize poor area
Mushrooms have helped lift villagers in Jingdong Yi autonomous county, Yunnan province, out of poverty, thanks to a cultivation program launched by a university in Zhejiang province. Located in an area famous for its abundance of wild mushrooms, Wangjia was once one of 48 villages in the county mired deep in poverty due to a lack of transportation, a manpower shortage and backward production facilities. In 2013, Zhejiang University in Hangzhou teamed up with county authorities and dispatched a team of experts in tea planting, mushroom cultivation and poultry breeding to help farmers improve their agricultural skills and sales methods. In May of the same year, Chen Zaiming, associate professor at the university's Institute of Vegetable Science, was offered a job as an adviser to the county government with an employment period of eight years. Meet Edward Goodrich Acheson, the inventor of carborundum
Silicon carbide occurs in nature as moissanite, an extremely rare mineral. Synthetic substitutes of this compound, which is made up of silicon and carbon, have been mass produced since 1893 and used as an abrasive (a substance for rubbing away surfaces). American inventor and entrepreneur Edward Goodrich Acheson is the reason why silicon carbide is also known as carborundum, even though the reasoning behind this naming is now known to be flawed. Born in 1856, Acheson was raised in the coal fields of Pennsylvania, the U.S. Fascinated by mathematics and engineering as a child, Acheson was forced to shoulder the burden of his family as a teenager following the death of his father. Even though he left school at the age of 16 and did odd jobs to support his family, he spent his evenings performing experiments, especially those with electrical equipment.
