KOLKATA: FC Barcelona’s unexpected defeat against Liverpool in the second leg of the UEFA Champions League semifinal in Anfield left the fans — and also the die-hard members of the Messi fan club — in Kolkata in a shock. The mood reflected on the social media meltdown — the updates ranged from frustrations and regrets to demand for changing coach Ernesto Valverde. For the Liverpool fans — and those who hold the English Premiere League a class above the Spanish league — it was a historic win that they “believe will be enough to close the debate over club supremacy for a long time to come”. Neroca FC registered their first win of this I-League season by beating former champions Aizawl FC 1-0 at the Khuman Lampak ground in Imphal on Friday. Ousmane Diawara scored the all-important goal in the 28th minute to give the home side all the three points. Neroca had lost 1-2 to Gokulam Kerala in their campaign opener. Aizawl FC, who dominated the possession, failed to convert any of their 15 shots in the match. The first big chance of the first half came in the 13th minute for the home team but Chanso Horam, who had a clear shot on left flank, failed to convert the same. Neroca FC was slowly growing in confidence and another chance came from the right side but Khaiminthang Lhungdim side-netted his shot in the 22nd minute. The defining moment of the game came in the 27th minute when Neroca got a free-kick from just outside the 18-yard box. Zodingliana’s thunderous left-footed kick hit the goal post and Ousmane Diawara capitalised on the … [Read more...] about I-League: Neroca FC beat Aizawl FC 1-0 to notch up first win
Video PlayerClose LONDON, Dec. 6 (Xinhua) -- The derby between Manchester City and Manchester United is the pick of this weekend's Premier League matches, which follow hot on the heels of an important set of midweek fixtures. United will make the short trip across to the Etihad Stadium off the back of their 2-1 win at home to Tottenham Hotspur, which not only gave Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's men three vital points, but also a huge morale boost as they inflicted the first defeat on former coach Jose Mourinho since his appointment as Spurs coach. Solskjaer will hope the midfield pairing of Fred and Scott McTominay continues to flourish and that Marcus Rashford reproduces Wednesday's exuberant form, but City also gave a hint of what they can produce in midweek when Pep Guardiola's men blew Burnley away 4-1 at Turf Moor, even without the injured Sergio Aguero. Everton's 5-2 thrashing away to Liverpool in the midweek derby had one immediate consequence as the club finally put coach Marco Silva … [Read more...] about Manchester derby headlines Premier League fixtures

Here’s a truth universally acknowledged by Netflix addicts — a streaming experience depends as much on the quality of streaming as the quality of the film/ show. Even if the movie you’ve picked is an old favourite, you can’t enjoy it if the darned website keeps hanging or the buffering reminds you of Internet speeds in the late 90s. This is why Netflix constantly experiments with user experience. Black Mirror: Bandersnatch became the first choose-your-own-adventure story in the streaming era. Seth Myers introduced a new idea in his recent stand-up special Lobby Baby — a button that allowed viewers to skip the Trump jokes, much like the ‘skip intro’ button that Netflix offers on most shows. Netflix’s Indian competitors, however, are intent on fighting the global giant with poorly made websites and apps. I’m mostly thinking of Hotstar and SonyLIV here (Prime Video’s interface isn’t brilliant, but it manages bare-minimum … [Read more...] about Column: Why do Indian streaming services use sub-par websites and apps?
