Our bicycle-friendly city
Jakarta’s growing population of bikers during the COVID-19 pandemic is evident. The city transportation agency’s data showed that more than 3,000 cyclists passed Jl. Thamrin in Central Jakarta on weekdays and nearly 23,500 on weekends between June 2020 and January 2021. But how many of them really commute? Many would agree that they ride bicycles just for exercise and fun, capitalizing on the city’s quieter roads as a result of mobility restrictions that have forced people to work and study from home. Before COVID-19 hit, few would dare to leisurely ride a bike around Jakarta’s congested streets where survival of the fittest is the norm. Prior to the pandemic, cycling, or even walking, could be dangerous, therefore for many, potential accidents outweighed the health benefits of cycling. There was barely space for bikers, despite the special, green lane the city government allocated for them. Early this week, the Jakarta administration announced a plan to transform the city into a ... » Learn More about Our bicycle-friendly city

Top 10 Tourist Attractions in Chiang Rai: Excluding Temples
Chiang Rai – This beautiful city in Thailand has a history that goes further back than its more than three-decade duration as the capital of the Lanna Kingdom. It is considered one of the oldest settlements in Thailand. Although it might not be as popular as Chang Mai in terms of tourism, what makes it a perfect destination is the strong affiliation with the Tai culture – the origin of the Lanna People – which can be seen virtually everywhere around the city. Despite the strong cultural affiliation, the city is evolving through new art to modernize the Lanna culture in a bid to offer a new perspective for visitors looking to understand what it means to belong to the Lanna Culture. However, before you leave on your vacation, you have to make sure that you have everything in place. From your tickets to your hotels being booked. But most especially, you need to make sure you bought your travel insurance to protect you from unexpected expenses that might result from health issues, ... » Learn More about Top 10 Tourist Attractions in Chiang Rai: Excluding Temples
CDC orders lockdown of Fontana
Clark Development Corp. (CDC) has ordered the temporary closure and full lockdown of the Fontana Leisure Park inside the Clark Freeport following the discovery of an illegal medical facility treating Chinese patients within the area suspected of being infected with the coronavirus disease 2019. CDC, in a statement on Wednesday, said the management of the Fontana Leisure Park would be held accountable for allowing the operation of the facility in one of its villas. “This illegal activity not only violates the law, but also poses danger to individuals who potentially need medical treatment for the deadly disease,” said CDC. Crunch time for under-fire Solskjaer
MAN Utd boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is once again the favourite with the bookies to get the sack. This has been a position that the Norwegian has been all too familiar with in a so far inconsistent season for the Red Devils. Man Utd were dumped out of the Champions League in midweek by German side RB Leipzig and today face a crucial derby at Old Trafford against neighbours Man City and anything less than a positive result against their hated rivals will surely put Solskjaer under more intense pressure. Man Utd were sloppy in their defeat in Germany and a loss was exactly what they deserved as their defence was in sixes and sevens trying to stop the Leipzig attack. Having started with impressive wins over PSG and a 5-0 home thrashing of Leipzig, the exit from the Champions League is a painful and frustrating one to take. Poor defending has dominated the side’s performances so far this season but the inconsistency of the squad is baffling, especially when playing at home. Their ... » Learn More about Crunch time for under-fire Solskjaer
Premier League Everton Football Club and Chang – The First Season
These days, a football club changing its sponsor can be a real statement of intent. Especially if the new sponsor is based in an area where the club wants to establish a corporate presence. In the aftermath of the Japan/South Korea-hosted 2002 World Cup, Asia became a huge target area for English football’s top clubs. In the summer of 2004, Premier League outfit Everton signed up Chang as their sponsor. Chang’s appointment came at a time when Everton FC was in a dire state on and off the pitch. In 2003/04, a disjointed Everton squad recorded the club’s worst Premier League points tally, finishing 17th in a league of 20 – the final ‘safe’ spot in the league above the relegation zone. The club’s greatest talent in a generation, 18-year old Wayne Rooney was also set to depart the club, eventually ending up at Manchester United. Everton were then considered favorites for relegation in 2004/05. Their opening game of the season seemed to justify those beliefs, with reigning champions ... » Learn More about Premier League Everton Football Club and Chang – The First Season
Liverpool Win 4-3 Thriller as Manchester United Triumph Again
LONDON – Liverpool continued their convincing push for the Premier League title as a Mohamed Salah double saw them repel a severe challenge from Crystal Palace to win a remarkable game 4-3 at Anfield and stretch their lead at the top to seven points. On another compelling afternoon in England’s top-flight, Arsenal dented Chelsea’s increasingly fragile title pursuit with a 2-0 derby win while Manchester United continued their stirring revival under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer with a 2-1 victory over Brighton & Hove Albion. Yet it was Liverpool’s pulsating win over their ‘bogey’ side that had the most significant feel as Juergen Klopp’s men showed real steel to subdue Palace, with Salah’s brace taking him to 50 Premier League goals in 72 matches. Andros Townsend gave the Eagles a first-half lead, offering them the prospect of their fourth win in their last five visits to Anfield, but Salah and Roberto Firmino struck after halftime only for dogged Palace to equalise with a James ... » Learn More about Liverpool Win 4-3 Thriller as Manchester United Triumph Again
Odds stacked against Red Devils at Etihad
IT IS going to be a long evening for Man Utd as they visit neighbours Man City, if the form book is anything to go by. United were held to their third successive scoreless draw across all competitions after firing another blank against Crystal Palace in midweek. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side produced another toothless display at Selhurst Park, where the Red Devils slipped 14 points adrift of tomorrow’s opponents and runaway leaders City. It was indeed a poor performance in midweek with United only mustering one shot on target and missing the chance to open up a three-point gap on third-placed Leicester. Having won only two of their last eight Premier League games, it certainly looks like an uphill task to come away with anything from the Etihad tomorrow. United have drawn a blank in games against the big-six clubs and this looks like another game where Solskjaer will thread with extreme caution. Yes, the Red Devils are on a 20-match unbeaten league run away from home, but ... » Learn More about Odds stacked against Red Devils at Etihad
