Video Player Close SHENYANG, Feb. 12 (Xinhua) -- Northeast China's Liaoning Province has completed a restoration project for 2,844 hectares of wetlands surrounding the Bohai Sea, the country's semi-enclosed inland sea. Since the end of 2018, Liaoning has implemented 14 programs targeting bays and estuaries along the Bohai Sea, based on a three-year national action plan on the comprehensive treatment of the sea, according to the provincial department of natural resources. The province demolished aquaculture cofferdams, cleared other structures, and dredged tidal ditches among its efforts to improve the coastal environment. So far, Liaoning also finished improvement of a 47.33-km-long coastline. The restored wetland area and coastline length were both around 50 percent higher than the country's targets set for the province. Heavy snow disrupts traffic in NE China
SHENYANG -- Heavy snow in northeast China's Liaoning province since Saturday night has forced the closure of most highways there. Most parts of Liaoning saw snow and rain between 8 pm Saturday and 7 am Monday. A blanket of snow 10 to 16 cm deep was piled up in cities of Anshan and Panjin during the period, according to data by the provincial meteorological bureau. The maximum snowfall of 20 mm was recorded in Liaoyang County, the bureau said.
