Citi may shutter consumer banking biz in India
Citibank NA , the largest foreign bank in India, may be closing down its consumer banking division, joining a host of overseas lenders to have shut shop in India over the last few years. Earlier this month, Bloomberg had reported that the bank is looking to divest some units in retail banking in the Asia-Pacific region, including those in South Korea, Thailand, the Philippines, and Australia. Reports now say it may look at hiving off its consumer banking unit in India too. The move comes when there is stress in retail portfolios due to pandemic and business is undergoing a slowdown. Interestingly, this development comes when HSBC recently reported hitting $1 billion profit in India. Girl Group Member Hungry for More Roles After Acting Debut
September 30, 2017 09:01 Five years after her debut as a member of the K-pop girl group Hello Venus, Na-ra has ventured into a new arena, making her acting debut in a TV series. Na-ra said she made extensive preparations for her role as a prosecutor in "Suspicious Partner," which aired in July, working on the basics such as pronunciation and intonation, and observing actual court trials. "It was my first TV series, so I felt a lot of pressure. But I tried to enjoy being on the set too," Na-ra said. Na-ra studied acting before joining Hello Venus. "As soon as the six-member girl band debuted in 2012, I was too busy to study acting. I couldn't take classes, so I practiced monologues while watching movies and TV dramas," she said.
