The Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) decided to keep the interest rate unchanged at 5.15% in the fifth bimonthly policy review, citing inflation concerns despite economic growth continuing to slow down.All the six members of the MPC voted in favour of keeping the interest rate unchanged.“The MPC recognises that there is monetary policy space for future action. RBI cuts GDP forecast to 5% in FY20; sees early revival signs
New Delhi: With the second-quarter GDP slipping to a six-year low of 4.5 per cent and expected to remain muted, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on Thursday cut GDP growth forecast for the current fiscal to 5 per cent. In its October monetary policy, the RBI had estimated the GDP to grow at 6.1 per cent in the financial year 2019-20. The central bank said that the July-September GDP growth had turned out to be significantly lower than projected and various high-frequency indicators suggest that domestic and external demand conditions have remained weak. "While improved monetary transmission and a quick resolution of global trade tensions are possible upsides to growth projections, a delay in the revival of domestic demand, a further slowdown in global economic activity and geopolitical tensions are downside risks," the RBI said in its monetary policy statement. NEW DELHI: E-commerce major Flipkart has partnered tech giant Apple to sell the latest edition of iPhone on its platform from October 7. This is the first time that Apple has collaborated with an e-commerce company in India to sell a new iPhone version. "Flipkart will offer iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus... beginning on October 7," Flipkart said in a statement. Customers can pre-order the phones from Thursday, September 29 at 23:59 hours from the company's website, it added. Unveiled earlier this month, the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus would be available in India at a starting price of Rs 60,000. The iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus will be available in 32GB, 128GB and 256GB storage variants in silver, gold and rose gold colours. Apple’s 2020 iPhones could feature Qualcomm’s ultrasonic fingerprint sensor
Apple is reportedly planing to use Qualcomm’s ultrasonic fingerprint sensor technology in one iPhone model, set to be released in 2020.The iPhone maker was partnering with Taiwanese touchscreen maker GIS to develop an iPhone for 2020 or 2021 that could use the under-display tech, MacRumors reported on Wednesday. Qualcomm unveiled the new 3D Sonic Max ultrasonic fingerprint reader on Tuesday at its third annual Snapdragon Technology Summit. Qualcomm supplies ultrasonic fingerprint sensors for Samsung’s Galaxy S10 and Galaxy Note10 smartphones.
