The five-year contract with SWaCH was also not renewed after it expired in December last year. Now, turning the tables, SWaCH directors on Tuesday submitted a letter to the municipal commissioner and mayor, showing the support of 110 corporators across all parties favouring retention of their service. Puducherry crisis deepens after two MLAs quit
A legislator each from the Congress and the DMK resigned from their posts on Sunday, leaving the Narayanasamy-led Puducherry government grasping at straws ahead of Monday’s trust vote in the Assembly. Shortly after K. Lakshminarayanan, Congress legislator representing Raj Bhavan and Parliamentary Secretary to the Chief Minister, submitted his resignation to Speaker V.P. Sivakolundhu at his residence, K. Venkatesan, representing Thattanchavady, became the first legislator from the ruling party’s ally, the DMK, to quit his post. In total, six MLAs, including five from the Congress, have quit, while a legislator from the national party was disqualified earlier. The resignations have brought down the House strength to 26, with the ruling combine — the Congress (9), the DMK (2) and an Independent — having only 12 legislators. Govt ready for talks if farmer unions respond to offer: Tomar
The government is ready to resume talks with protesting farmers if they respond to its offer to put the three contentious farm laws on hold for one-and-a-half year and work out the difference during that time through a joint committee, Union agriculture minister Narendra Singh Tomar said Wednesday. The government and unions representing farmers, who have been camping at Delhi's border for about three months in protest against the three laws that they see will end state procurement of crops at MSP, have held 11 rounds of talks, the last being on January 22. Talks broke after widespread violence during a tractor rally by protesting farmers on January 26. Speaking on the sidelines of an event in Delhi, Tomar said the government is committed towards the interest of farmers and agriculture, and under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, it is making efforts to double farmers' income and strengthen the Indian agriculture sector. Reliance seeks bids for gas from coal bed methane block in Madhya Pradesh
New Delhi: Reliance Industries has sought bids for gas from its coal bed methane block in Madhya Pradesh. Bids have been invited for sale of 0.82 million metric standard cubic meters a day (mmscmd) of gas for a period of one year beginning April 1, according to public notice by the company. Bidders are expected to quote a price in terms of percentage of the Dated Brent, which would be the average of Platts’s benchmark rates for three months preceding the supply month. Bids cannot be lower than 9.5% of the Dated Brent. The actual price gas buyers pay will be the higher of the bid price or the domestic formula price published every six months by the Oil Ministry ’s petroleum planning and analysis cell. Potential buyers can start registering on the e-bidding platform from March 6 for the auction slated for March 18. The minimum volume one can bid for is 0.01 mmscmd.
