Disengagement, de-escalation key for progress in ties, India tells China
India expects China to work with it to ensure complete disengagement “at the earliest” along the Line of Actual Control (LAC), which was key to restoring the relationship, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said on Friday. The foreign ministers of both countries, S. Jaishankar and Wang Yi, in a phone call on February 25 reviewed the status of disengagement , which has been completed on the north and south banks of Pangong lake and is in progress in other areas along the LAC. Both ministers also agreed to establish a hotline. Uber free rides for elderly in second phase
MUMBAI : Uber said from Monday it will ferry senior citizens (aged above 60) and those with co-morbidities and above 45 to vaccination centres free of cost. It is offering free rides worth Rs 10 crore across the country for assisting the second phase of the vaccination drive. A senior Uber official told TOI the free rides will continue “till funds get exhausted”. “The management will see its next offering depending on the situation,” the official said, adding that the free rides were part of the aggregator firm’s support to the ministry of health and family welfare (MoHFW), state governments and local NGOs.
