Russia’s Moscow State University (MSU) has joined Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU) in the international telecommunication network (ITCN) project among universities in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean) region. MMSU in Ilocos Norte is the only Philippine university that has joined the network dubbed Asean-Russia project, according to Daniel Tapaoan Jr., MMSU assistant information officer. A feasibility study for a public transport feeder network to link all existing and future electric train stations in Bangkok and surrounding provinces is almost finished, the Transport and Traffic Policy Plan Office (TTPPO) said on Wednesday. Conducted by two consultancy firms which the office hired at a cost of 20 million baht, the study is now in its final stage of garnering public opinion through public hearings. The National Irrigation Administration (NIA) on Thursday said it had signed five project contracts worth P1.98 billion for 2020, which included the construction of irrigation systems and earthfill dams, and acquisition of heavy equipment. In a statement, the agency said the agreements were signed between NIA Administrator Ricardo Visaya and executives of the project contractors last Tuesday at the NIA Central Office in Quezon City. The bulk of the total amount was for the construction of the P832.97-million Balbalungao Earthfill Dam in Lupao, Nueva Ecija. SUNTRUST Home Developers Inc. signed a lease agreement with Westside City Resorts World Inc. and Resorts World Manila operator Travellers International Hotel Group Inc. for a casino development. In a disclosure on Monday, Suntrust said that it would be paying an annual rent of $10.6 million to the lessors upon the completion of the project. “The annual rent was determined by the reference to the assessment of an independent valuer on the indicative market value of the project site of $340 million,” the listed property firm said.
