Ronel Estanislao and Joella De Vera survived Philip Joper Escueta and Eleanor Christine Inlayo, 21-17, 18-21, 21-17, to claim the mixed doubles title in the of the Smart National Open Badminton Tournament held at the Powersmash Badminton Center in Makati City. Estanislao, and De Vera bagged the P120,000 champion’s prize. Mark Shelly Alcala, on the other hand, topped the men’s singles. Organizer Jay Biñas said the event will be a good tune-up match for those athletes seeing action in the 2017 Negros Occidental Schools Sports, Cultural and Educational Association which starts September 15. MULTI-TITLED shuttler Arthur "Pingkoy" Salvado Jr., paired with Jannelee Rozette Tabunan clinched the 5th Arkismash Badminton Tournament open mixed doubles title Saturday, February 4, at the Smashville Fitness Center in Davao City. The Salvado-Tabunan tandem outclassed rival Xera Masu Suico and Maido Hasim, 31-25, in the championship match after beating the duo of Mark Caralde and Chin-chin Panisales, 31-28, in the semifinals.
