Photograph: BCCI India captain Virat Kohli said the best aspect of the series-clinching win over West Indies in the third and final T20 International in Mumbai was that his team finally managed to post a big score while batting first. While India have been good at chasing for a while now, they have been making a conscious effort to amass big totals batting first ahead of the T20 World Cup next year. Kohli led from the front smashing an unbeaten 70 off 29 balls as India beat West Indies by 67 runs in the third T20 at the Wankhede on Wednesday. "We had spoken a lot (big first innings score). It was about going out on the field and executing. I had the opportunity to do something different, which I don't usually do. I told KL to stay on till the end, and said I'll try and smash a few," said Kohli … [Read more...] about Finally! Kohli’s India show they can defend big totals

Apple’s newer iPhones may not be selling as expected, but its older devices are still very popular. Take the iPhone SE for example which started selling again recently in the US and was sold out shortly after. iPhone SE was discontinued four months back. It was sold through the clearance section of Apple’s website in the US.So what makes the three-year old iPhone SE still one of the most popular iPhones? Launched back in 2016, the iPhone SE (Special Edition) packs the costlier iPhone 6s’ hardware wrapped under the compact body of the iPhone 5s. The price of iPhone SE has gone so low that it now hangs in the budget category in India. You can get the iPhone SE (32GB) for as low as Rs 17,000 on Flipkart. India have won the three-match Twenty20 International series beating West Indies, the current T20 World Cup champions, by 2-1 in an exciting fashion. Here are some of the important threads that we picked from the series: INDIA SHED CONSERVATISM More than three years apart, a similar sequence of events that played out at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, though with different outcomes, provides a significant insight into the Indian cricket team’s mindset. At the 2016 T20 World Cup semi-final, India were asked to bat first and the hosts set up a 193-run target in 20 overs for the loss of just two wickets. It was probably, on India’s mind, a good enough target in T20 cricket, but for the muscular West Indies, it was just a regular one as they comfortably won with two balls to spare. The big difference, as was realized later, was the way the two teams approached the batting. Of course, with a target in front of you it helps you pace your innings better but it was more than … [Read more...] about Some important threads from the India-West Indies T20I series
India versus West Indies at Wankhede Stadium on Wednesday was among the best T20 matches I’ve seen. Played at breakneck speed, there were enough big hits to bring spectators to their feet, and finally, a win for the home team to leave fans hoarse from full-throated cheering. The contest was not as one-sided as the scorecard might suggest. West Indies did not throw in the towel even after India had scored 240. Skipper Kieron Pollard, a local favourite because of his Mumbai Indians connection, kept the contest alive with some terrific hitting.Making Pollard captain was a smart move. He knows Indian conditions and players extremely well because of his IPL experience. But even more, I think Pollard was looking for a fresh challenge at this stage of his career, which has come through the captaincy. But all told, the evening belonged to India’s top three batsmen. The incandescent strokeplay of Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, and Virat Kohli – both beautiful and brutal – dimmed … [Read more...] about Will Mumbai cricket see a turnaround soon?
