Hurun Report and GROHE India on Monday released the third edition of ‘GROHE Hurun India Real Estate Rich List 2019’ featuring the 100 richest real estate entrepreneurs in India. The list was based on a snapshot of wealth as on September 30, 2019. For listed companies, the report has taken market capitalisation to determine the wealth, while for the unlisted companies, latest financial statement has been taken into account. Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led central government is likely to make some major announcements to boost the languishing real estate sector. Sources have told Zee News that a package for the real estate sector is expected to be declared this week itself. The sources said that as part of the measure, additional funds might be allocated for housing finance companies. Concessions are also possible in the norms for developers seeking loans for housing projects from banks. A major impetus is expected to be given to the projects which have remain stalled. According to the sources, a fund of Rs 8000 crore might be announced for stalled real estate projects. Notably, at least 5 lakh home buyers have been suffering because of incompletion of housing projects. The government may also expand the ambit of affordable housing. PUNE: A state government plan to build 33,000 affordable housing units in the Pune Metropolitan Region - mainly in the Wagholi and Hinjewadi areas - has yet to take off due to a lull in the real estate sector. A state housing department officials said few developers showed any interest in building the projects on the public-private partnership basis, despite assurances that all curbs will be lifted on construction activity in "no-development zones", just like it was done in the Mumbai Metropolitan Regon. This has put a serious dent in the authorities' plan to build at least 50,000 low-cost homes in the region by the end of the year. "While state housing department is willing to set up a single-window to issue environmental clearances and building permissions, the overall lull in the sector appears to have pushed the plan onto the back burner," a department official stated.
