PETALING JAYA: A total of 46 countries are participating in the 21st edition of the Miss Tourism International 2018 World Final, which has described itself as ‘The Biggest Event of The Year’. The Miss Tourism International (MTI) 2018 World Final, themed ‘Glitz and Glamour’, will put Malaysia in the global spotlight on Dec 21, at the Sunway Hotel Resort and Spa, Subang Jaya. The pageant featuring 46 delegates taking part in tourism-related promotional activities and events will take place from Dec 7 to 22. ‘Philippines does not need call from 38 states on HR’
MANILA, Philippines — The country does not have to be told of its human rights obligations as it is already faithfully fulfilling them, Malacañang said yesterday amid calls from 38 countries for the Duterte administration to address concerns over thousands of deaths and other abuses in the conduct of its war on drugs. In a joint statement issued at the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) session in Geneva last week, the 38 countries said the Philippines – as a member of the council – is obliged to fulfill its duty to promote universal respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms. The 47-member UNHRC said it might take action if the government fails to fulfill its international human rights obligations. It did not elaborate. Its pastel floral designs — a sampler of sorts — was captivating, but also beyond my budget. Decades passed, but it lingered in my memory every time I shopped for a rug to dress up a dreary room.
