MANILA, Philippines — When we say hair, we immediately think of women and their bad hair days. But men can be as meticulous and expressive when it comes to their crowning glory. In fact, hair becomes more important as they age due to the very possibility of losing it. While it’s normal for an individual to lose 100 to 150 strands of hair daily, it has been proven that hair loss is more common in men than women. Globally, 18 percent of men aged 20 to 40 have faced significant hair loss—reveals leading personal care brand Dove Men. Hair is everyone’s crowning glory. They say you can tell one’s age through the thickness of one’s hair. I remember asking Leyte Rep. Lucy Torres-Gomez if she ever thought of cutting her hair short and her quick reply was it would make her cry if she lost her long, silky hair. In fact, about half of all women face thinning hair by the time they reach 50. It happens when your body becomes overly sensitive to male hormones called androgens, which can block hair growth. As a result, follicles gradually get smaller, producing shorter, finer … [Read more...] about New treatment offers hope to those suffering hair loss
source Erin Brodwin / Business Insider I tried the Mediterranean Diet, a healthy whole foods meal plan based around vegetables, fish, healthy fats like those from olive oil and avocados. The plan has been linked with benefits that range from a reduced risk of disease to a healthier mind. I learned a lot while trying the regimen, and I’d like to stick with it for a long time. You could say I’ve been around the diet block. I’ve been vegan, restricted my eating to an 8-hour window as part of an intermittent fast, and given ketogenic and vegetarian meal plans a spin – all in an attempt to give myself more energy, feel healthier, and power through the various activities I enjoy, like yoga, hiking, and rock climbing. The one regimen I’ve never tried, however, is the one I write about the most: the Mediterranean Diet. The plan’s cornerstones are vegetables, fish, … [Read more...] about I tried a science-backed eating plan tied to a better memory and longer life — and never felt like I was ‘dieting’
