By Jimmy Golen The Associated Press Sat., May 11, 2019 BOSTON—When he’s playing, Bruins defenceman Charlie McAvoy said, it’s easy for him to maintain his composure and concentrate on the game in front of him. But up in the press box, that’s the hard part. “I’m not a very good hockey watcher,” McAvoy said as he prepared to return from his one-game suspension for Game 2 of the Eastern Conference final against the Carolina Hurricanes. “The game seems like it’s much longer.” McAvoy was suspended for a shoulder to the head of Columbus forward Josh Anderson in the second-round finale. So instead of taking the ice in his usual pairing with Zdeno Chara, McAvoy was wandering around the media dining area before Game 1, wondering if he had to pay or not. (He didn’t.) And while his teammates were beating the Hurricanes 5-2 in the conference final opener, McAvoy was in street clothes on the very top level of … [Read more...] about Charlie McAvoy a better NHL player than fan

But, if fans want to truly support their heroes, there are ample reasons why they should stick with genuine products and official streams. Speaking at World Intellectual Property (IP) Day 2019 in Bangkok, the La Liga Delegate for Thailand, Jose Maria Gotor, spelled out why buying genuine products benefits not only the teams but the fans themselves. Gotor noted that the revenue from TV companies and official merchandise suppliers is critical to pay for clubs’ recruitment programmes, training facilities, support staff and other services that keep them competitive. Philipp Dupuis, Head of Economics and Trade Section, EU Delegation to Thailand said IP (intellectual property) rights were crucial for the sports sector, which has to rely on the protection of its IP assets - these are linked to the name, and sports associations, TV rights, merchandise and the internet. By Kevin McGran Sports Reporter Tues., April 30, 2019 Before I get to Mike Babcock’s grade for the 2018-19 season, I guess I should point out we’re all on #BabcockWatch now. (Tomorrow: The Forwards) When asked about the Babcock’s job security with the Maple Leafs, GM Kyle Dubas punted the answer downfield. He basically said everything is under review, and he’ll let us know when he knows. Not exactly words of endorsement, though how often has a coach been fired mere days after the GM promised him the exact opposite? So Dubas will let us know when he knows and he hasn’t said anything yet, so the #BabcockWatch will carry on. Article Continued Below It’s really too close to call right now, whether Babcock will be back for Season 5. It’s a bit like Game of Thrones, where some of your favourite characters don’t make it to the end. Jake Gardiner’s not making it. A bit like Theon Greyjoy there. We all thought … [Read more...] about Babcock watch: Grading a coach whose job is on the line
