2021’s new normal – the digital Covid passport
Looking forward to travelling, shopping, going to the movies? Now that Covid-19 vaccines are beginning to be rolled out around the world, you may now need something in addition to the actual vaccine. Documentation… a vaccine passport. Documentation, including your current Covid status and vaccination details, will become 2021’s biggest challenge as governments, businesses, and world travel, try and re-establish some sort of workable way forward. Several companies and technology groups are developing smartphone apps or systems for individuals to upload details of their Covid-19 tests and vaccinations, creating digital credentials that could be shown in order to enter public building, sports stadiums, movie theatres, or even other countries. Camping under the rubber trees
Dozens of camping trips and campgrounds have arisen to attract these kind of social media users. Before Myanmar receives its first round of vaccinations, many have posted pictures of their camping holidays. Besides evening barbeques, many include a whole range of activities like fishing, cycling and trekking – everything you need to keep you happy and healthy during the pandemic. Being out in the open, you also don’t have to worry too much about curfews and social distancing – providing you go with your friends or family. One such campground is called "Mother's Village", and it became our girls-night-out destination for me and three of my best high school friends. Located beside the Yangon-Mandalay Highway Road, Mother's Village Campground was fully booked when we arrived for our one-night stay. After passing the deserted Aung Mingalar Highway Bus Terminal, our group quickly caught up to a line of trucks and cars waiting along the road. Just as we thought we’d left ... » Learn More about Camping under the rubber trees

Voices of student dissent must be heard
Students at Suksanari School in Bangkok hold anti-dictatorship placards yesterday. Young people have decided to take action outside of our so-called democratic framework. (Photo by Arnun Chonmahatrakoolption) Since the dissolution of the Future Forward Party (FFP) on Feb 21, Thai society has witnessed an escalating challenge to the Prayut Chan-o-cha government by university students across the country. Now a number of school students have joined the bandwagon with a series of flash mobs. The disgruntled students are frustrated with what they deem as unfair partiality by certain independent agencies. They are fed up with the long tenure of Prime Minister Prayut, who has been in power since 2014, and his regime. And they are calling for an end to the military's intervention in politics, which has included the use of dubious mechanisms, including the contentious regime-sponsored constitution and various questionable election rules, to prolong their stay in power. The Pheu Thai ... » Learn More about Voices of student dissent must be heard

(Photo by Pattarapong Chatpattarasill) The government is pinning its hopes on two major projects to achieve its goal of becoming a digital hub in Asean. He told the Bangkok Post's "5G: The Game Changer" forum on Thursday that LEO satellites operate between 500- 2,000 kilometres above the Earth's surface compared to the 36,000km height of so-called geostationary satellites, the traditional types of communications satellites.
