New Delhi: Bengaluru-headquartered deep-tech startup Log 9 Materials has launched rapid charging battery packs for electric vehicles , the company said in a release. India woos Tesla with offer of cheaper production costs than China
NEW DELHI: Tesla Inc's cost of production would be less than in China if the carmaker commits to making its electric vehicles in the south Asian country, transport minister Nitin Gadkari told Reuters. Gadkari's pitch comes weeks after billionaire Elon Musk 's Tesla registered a company in India in a step towards entering the country, possibly as soon as mid-2021. Sources familiar with the matter have said Tesla plans to start by importing and selling its Model 3 electric sedan in India. "Rather than assembling (the cars ) in India they should make the entire product in the country by hiring local vendors. Then we can give higher concessions," Gadkari said in an interview, without giving details of what incentives would be on offer. "The government will make sure the production cost for Tesla will be the lowest when compared with the world, even China, when they start manufacturing their cars in India. We will assure that," he said. India wants to boost local ... » Learn More about India woos Tesla with offer of cheaper production costs than China

WHO: ‘Premature,’ ‘unrealistic’ Covid-19 will end soon
A senior World Health Organisation official has said it was "premature" and "unrealistic" to think the pandemic might be stopped by the end of the year, but that the recent arrival of effective vaccines could at least help dramatically reduce hospitalisations and death. The world's singular focus right now should be to keep transmission of Covid-19 as low as possible, said Dr Michael Ryan, director of WHO 's emergencies programme, on Monday. "If we're smart, we can finish with the hospitalizations and the deaths and the tragedy associated with this pandemic" by the end of the year, he said at media briefing. Ryan said WHO was reassured by emerging data that many of the licensed vaccines appear to be helping curb the virus' explosive spread. "If the vaccines begin to impact not only on death and not only on hospitalization, but have a significant impact on transmission dynamics and transmission risk, then I believe we will accelerate toward controlling this ... » Learn More about WHO: ‘Premature,’ ‘unrealistic’ Covid-19 will end soon
Foreign Ministry rebuts biased report
China rebutted on Tuesday a biased and slanderous report issued by the Foreign Correspondents' Club of China and said that it opposes ideological prejudice against China and fake news in the name of "press freedom". Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin said at a news briefing that the so-called report intentionally stirs up trouble and "we have never recognized this organization". He said the report is just some biased views of several Western media outlets and is a typical example of partial reporting, which is far from objective journalism. The organization's annual report, issued on Monday, claimed that China used pandemic prevention measures "to limit foreign reporting in 2020, ushering in a rapid decline in media freedom". China always welcomes foreign media and journalists covering news in the country based on law and regulations, and the country will continue to provide convenience and assistance, Wang said. He added, however, that China opposes behavior that breaches ... » Learn More about Foreign Ministry rebuts biased report
