Urmila Matondkar is the Congress candidate from Mumbai North. In an interview to ET, she says how she had offers from the BJP and Congress earlier as well, and why she rejected them. The 'Rangeela' actress also reiterates that she is not just a pretty face. Excerpts from the interview: What made you join politics? Was there anything that triggered it?There was no trigger. Over the last four-and-a-half, five years, there have been many issues where a normal person is forced to think about what is happening in the country. In 2014, all those humongous promises were made that turned out to be extremely impractical and unattainable. I was also one of those who had hoped that they would be achieved. New Delhi: The apex court of the country, on Tuesday, has announced its verdict in which it announced 4 years jail to general secretary of AIADMK VK Sasikala in disproportionate assets case. With this the tussle between Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu O Pannerselvam and one who was dreaming to become CM of the state, Sasikala, has finally come to rest. One the one hand, where Pannerselvam is likely to rule unopposed, AIADMK General Secretary Sasikala Natrajan will have to surrender herself to jail for undergoing remaining jail term. PUNE: Union Home Minister Amit Shah has announced the government's plans to set up an All India Police University and All India Forensic Science University, with affiliated colleges in the States and underscored the government's resolve to initiate changes in the IPC and CrPC to make them more conducive to today's democratic setup. On June 29, the elders of Khera Khap, a community of 24 villages and over 200,000 people in Haryana’s Jind district, passed a diktat urging its residents to stop using surnames indicative of their caste.
