By Alexandra Jones Staff Reporter Tues., Sept. 18, 2018 A 19-year-old man from Mississauga has been arrested after a video of a person riding on the roof of a moving GO train surfaced on the internet earlier this month. It’s unclear still exactly when the video was recorded, but the clip, first posted to Instagram by 6ixbuzztv, came to the attention of Metrolinx officers early in September. After investigating, police learned the video was posted in June 2017, and involved a train heading westbound along the Lakeshore West train line in Mississauga. In the video, an individual appears to be filming while sitting on a train chugging along at full speed. After a few shaky pans of the scenery, the person filming stands up and records a few seconds longer as they “surf” on the top of the train. The video was tweeted out last week by Metrolinx spokesperson Nitish Bissonauth, who said that GO Transit officers were investigating and taking it … [Read more...] about Man arrested for riding on GO train roof after video goes viral

I’m just waiting for everything to come out so people can really wait to see what happened. I would really like the fans, and everybody else, (to) learn what the media says is not true. “The biggest thing for me, and it’s sad to me, (is) how people are free to say whatever they want. They can just judge you, and … [Read more...] about Roberto Osuna speaks out: ‘If I’m guilty, you can say whatever you want’
By Ben Spurr Transportation Reporter Tues., March 20, 2018 The conduct of transit officers is coming under scrutiny again after GO Transit constables were filmed arresting a man who may have been suffering from mental health issues. A cellphone video posted online Tuesday by journalist and activist Desmond Cole captures the arrest of a 34-year-old man by transit officers and Toronto police at the Union Station bus terminal on the early morning of March 11. According to police, the incident took place over roughly 90 minutes. The video, which was shot by an unnamed bystander, has been edited down to five minutes and 24 seconds, which Cole said was necessary in part to protect the man’s identity. Cole, who is a former Star columnist, wrote that the incident constituted “police brutality.” Spokespersons for both the police and Metrolinx, the provincial agency that operates GO, said they’ve seen no evidence officers did anything wrong. … [Read more...] about GO Transit officers under scrutiny over Union Station arrest
