Sea turtles and eagles in Davao City? Wow! I was invited to Davao City with my friends in the Cebu media, notably, Freeman Business columnist Fidel O. Abalos, Jhunnex Napallacan, manager of DYLA, Divine Ngujo of Chatterbox and Atty. Elias Espinoza of SunStar Daily led by Aboitiz Power’s Victor Anthony Silva and Maleen Camo. All these were arranged by my good friend, Willy Rodolfo who was once with Cebu media, but has now been with Aboitiz Power for sometime now. Arriving in Davao we were given the most unexpected tour of our lives, when Willy Rodolfo sent the group to the Davao’s Eagle Center and Sanctuary and saw “Pagasa” and around 40 different Eagles including “Pangarap” who was sponsored by Aboitiz Equity Ventures (AEV). It was truly the first time for me to visit this part of Davao City and it was also the first time I realized that there are so many corporations and people who sponsor these eagles. Notably, St. … [Read more...] about Sea turtles and eagles in Davao City? Wow!

DAVAO CITY—The Davao City Council on Tuesday approved a resolution asking President Rodrigo Duterte to lift martial law in the city. Councilor Mabel Acosta, chairman of the peace and public safety committee, filed the resolution. The president's daughter, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio, had said that the martial law left some investors wary. "Martial law has negative connotation. Some countries are still issuing travel advisory. So we are supporting this [resolution]," said Art Millan, president of Davao City Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The police and military also support the lifting of military rule in the city. "Wala kaming na-receive against human rights ng ating personnel... kahit naman walang martial law, dinidisiplina namin ang personnel namin," said Police Maj. Army 10th Infantry Division (ID) Captain Roberto Escalona also said the peace and order situation in the city remains under … [Read more...] about Davao City Council asks Duterte to lift martial law
[Read more...] about TINGNAN: ‘LGBT Pride Lane’ sa Davao City
MANILA - President Rodrigo Duterte said Friday night that extrajudicial killings, which refers to executions without due process, have been occurring in Davao City. He made the remark to emphasize the growing economy in Davao City, where he served as local chief executive for more than 2 decades, because of its supposed low crime rate. (In the matter of elements of progress, Davao is in the forefront and only because we decided, naunawaan ninyo ako dahil noon pa 'yang extrajudicial killing.) The President then went on to explain that religious leaders tied with the Manila's high society, who are critical of his campaign against illegal drugs, didn't understand his policies. "Wala man gyud na sila nagkagusto … [Read more...] about News ‘Noon pa’: Duterte admits EJKs in Davao City
