Domestic cooking gas (LPG) price was cut by Rs 5.91 per cylinder Monday, the second straight reduction in a month's time due to tax impact on reduced market rate of the fuel. A 14.2-kg subsidised LPG cylinder will cost Rs 494.99 in the national capital from midnight tonight as against Rs 500.90 currently, Indian Oil Corp (IOC), the country's largest fuel retailer, said in a statement. This is the second straight monthly reduction in LPG rate. On December 1, subsidised LPG price was cut by Rs 6.52 per bottle. That price cut had come after six consecutive monthly hikes in rates since June. The two price reductions have mostly negated the Rs 14.13 per cylinder increase in rates between June and November. IOC said non-subsidised or market priced LPG rates have been cut by a steep Rs 120.50 per cylinder "due to fall in price of LPG in international market and strengthening of US dollar-rupee exchange rate." It will now cost Rs 689 per 14.2-kg cylinder in Delhi. On December 1, price of … [Read more...] about Subsidised LPG price cut by Rs 5.91, non-subsidised rate reduced by Rs 120.50

New Delhi: Non-subsidised cooking gas (LPG) price was on Wednesday cut by Rs 62.50 per cylinder on softening international rates. Non-subsidised or market priced LPG, which consumers buy after exhausting their quota of 12 cylinders of 14.2-kg each at subsidised rates, will now cost Rs 574.50 with effect from midnight tonight, IOC said in a statement. "It may be noted that the price of non-subsidised LPG was reduced by Rs 100.50/cylinder earlier in July 2019 also. Considering this, the price of non-subsidised LPG cylinder has come down by Rs 163.00/cylinder cumulatively in two months," it said. "Accordingly, the upfront cash payment by the consumers of domestic LPG will also reduce by Rs 62.50 per cylinder. Domestic LPG consumers will now be required to make upfront cash payment of Rs 574.50 only per 14.2 Kg cylinder in August 2019 in place of Rs 637 per cylinder for July 2019," IOC said in the statement. NK: As the Indian economy has gradually opened up since 1991, the global economic situation has had spillovers in India. Between 2003 and 2008, the Indian economy was averaging between 8% and 9% growth. After the collapse of Lehman Brothers, it came down to 6.2%, but we were very solid. There is always a spillover of global headwinds on the Indian economy. Not only through trade, but through capital inflows which have been affected. What has also precipitated this, this time, is the Non-Banking Financial Companies [NBFC] crisis which has affected the flow of credit to capital goods. The demand for capital goods is down, as is car sales. Real estate is in trouble. The flow of credit to some of these sectors, which were an important determinant of sales, has been affected. This has resulted in a spillover in the rest of the economy. … [Read more...] about What can India do to overcome the global slowdown?
