Final phase of trial for contactless bus ticketing system to begin in Delhi from Monday
New Delhi: The final phase of the trial of the contactless ticketing system will begin in the around 3,000 cluster buses run by the Delhi Integrated Multi-Modal Transit System (DIMTS) through the 'Chartr' app from Monday (March 1), a transport department statement said. The trial of the app is already underway in all 3,760 buses operated by the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC), it said. Approximately, four lakh tickets have been booked using the app so far. The pink tickets for women passengers, who travel free of cost in public transport buses, comprise 67 per cent of the total tickets booked through the app, it said. "The total daily ticket booking through 'Chartr' app is around 10,000. In the last 10 days, the ticket count through this app has witnessed around a 10 per cent increase on a daily basis," it said. The app has seen a progressive increase in the number of users since its trial began and over two lakh people have downloaded it since its release, it said. Covid: India records biggest single-day jump in 30 days
India's COVID-19 tally climbed to 1,10,96,731 on Sunday with 16,752 new infections, the highest in the last 30 days, according to Union health ministry data. The active caseload further increased to 1,64,511. It constitutes 1.48 per cent of the total infections, it showed. The number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 1,07,75,169, which translates to a national COVID-19 recovery rate of 97.10 per cent. Delhi boy beaten, stabbed for confronting sister’s stalkers
A teenager was beaten up and stabbed for allegedly opposing three boys who were stalking his sister and passing 'indecent remarks' on her in southeast Delhi's Kalkaji area, police said on Saturday. LPG cylinder prices increase by Rs 25, check Delhi rates
New Delhi: Several new rules will come into force from Monday (March 1) affecting the daily life of people. Under the new rules, the LPG Cylinder price has been increased by Rs 25 per cylinder from today. This is the 4th hike since February, which takes the cumulative hike to Rs 125 per cylinder now. If you are in Delhi, you have to pay more for a domestic gas cylinder, which will now cost Rs 819. The 14.2 Kg gas cylinder will cost more in the national capital as the domestic oil companies have decided to raise the price by Rs 25. In February, the LPG rates were revised thrice amid surging crude oil prices. Currently, a 14.2 Kg cylinder is priced at Rs 794 in the national capital while it costs Rs 745.50 in Kolkata and Rs 735 in Chennai. Extreme weather events claimed the lives of more than 1.4 lakh people in the last 50 years, with deaths due to occurrences like heat waves and lightning witnessing a rise, according to a paper by country's top meteorologists. "In the past 50 years (1970-2019) a total of 7,063 EWEs associated with at least one mortality, were found to have occurred in the country. Highways construction touches record 33 km a day: Gadkari
Nitin Gadkari on Monday said highway building has achieved a new feat, with the construction touching record 30 km a day. The feat could be achieved after the construction of 11,035 kilometres of national highways this fiscal so far, said minister for Road Transport , Highways and MSMEs while talking to reporters here. "We have built 11,035 km of highways till date this year. This comes to 32.85 km a day of highway building, which is a record," Gadkari said. The minister also said that by March 31, it may reach 40 km a day. He said the achievement was remarkable as it could be achieved despite constraints posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.
