MUMBAI: The Mumbai region railways saw over 1,100 deaths in 2020 despite local trains not running for two and a half months from March-end and then working restrictively for the rest of the year due to the Covid-19 pandemic. An RTI plea shows over 23,000 railway deaths in MMR between 2013 and 2020. Thanks to the lockdown in 2020, deaths (1,116) reduced to 41% and the number of people injured (878) was down to 27% compared to the previous year. In 2020, a little over 65% of the deaths were due to track crossing and 16% were caused from falling off moving trains. Over 980 victims were male. Airtel Payments Bank launches ‘Airtel Safe Pay to prevent digital payment frauds
NEW DELHI: Airtel Payments Bank on Wednesday launched ‘Airtel Safe pay’ for customers to provide protection against growing incidents of online payment frauds. The ‘Airtel Safe Pay’ solution provides an additional layer of payment validation against the industry norm of two-factor authentication, said Airtel. “With ‘Airtel Safe Pay’, Airtel customers making UPI or Netbanking based payments through Airtel Payments Bank, no longer have to worry about money leaving their accounts without their explicit consent,” it added.
