We try the new ‘choose-your-own-adventure’ interactive movie theatre experience: How is it better than what we already have?
If you've watched or heard of the Netflix film Black Mirror: Bandersnatch, you'd be familiar with the concept of interactive films — imagine the video version of the hit 1980s Choose Your Own Adventure book series. But the 2018 award-winning movie isn't the first to have viewers make choices for the protagonists. That honour goes to Late Shift, a British crime thriller first screened in 2017 at the Cannes Film Festival and made available on PlayStation, Xbox, Apple TV, and other platforms. Now, it is also the first feature-length interactive film to receive a wide theatrical release, and the film will soon be available in Singapore at Golden Village. The movie's about a student Matt (Joe Sowerbutts) who is kidnapped and sort of forced into doing a heist at an auction house while working the late shift at a car park. I say 'sort of' because some of the decisions you, in the audience, get to decide are whether Matt agrees to do the heist and how big of a percentage cut he'd get in ... » Learn More about We try the new ‘choose-your-own-adventure’ interactive movie theatre experience: How is it better than what we already have?
Shooting kills 8 in US city of Indianapolis
Several people have been shot in an incident in Indianapolis, police say. WASHINGTON: At least eight people were killed in a shooting in the US city of Indianapolis by a gunman who is believed to have then killed himself, police said. The victims were all found at a Fedex facility near the international airport where the shooting took place late Thursday, police spokeswoman Genae Cook told a news conference, adding several others had been taken to hospital. One man who said he works at the plant told local broadcaster WISH-TV he saw the gunman start shooting and heard more than 10 gunshots. "I saw a man with a sub-machine gun of some sort, an automatic rifle, and he was firing in the open. I immediately ducked down and got scared," Jeremiah Miller said. Cook told reporters officers had responded to an "active shooter incident," adding they believe the gunman died by suicide. She said authorities judged there was no longer an immediate threat to public safety. A Fedex ... » Learn More about Shooting kills 8 in US city of Indianapolis
GMA Network reaps multiple wins at the Philippine Quill Awards
Leading broadcast company GMA Network won multiple honors at the 18th Philippine Quill Awards, considered as the country’s most prestigious awards program in the field of business communications. During the virtual ceremonies held last March 25, GMA took home three Excellence Awards. The first one was for its Corporate Social Responsibility project ‘GMA Network Excellence Awards.’ Its regional arm, GMA Regional TV (RTV), gave the Kapuso Network two more honors for the “Kapuso Barangayan on Wheels” and “Kapuso Campus Tour: The Regional Masterclass Series.” Recognized under the Communications Management Division’s Corporate Social Responsibility Category, the “GMA Network Excellence Awards” (GNEA) is an annual nationwide search that honors outstanding graduating Filipino students of communication and technology-based courses. Also winning under the same category is ‘Kapuso Barangayan on Wheels’ – the mobile version of GMA RTV’s “Kapuso Barangayan” which was originally a community ... » Learn More about GMA Network reaps multiple wins at the Philippine Quill Awards
Thin and light but also powerful
Xiaomi's Mi 11 is one of the lightest and most compact smartphones to offer top specifications like the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset, dynamic 120Hz screen and dual speakers tuned by Harman Kardon, together with a bunch of effects for video recording to make your videos more fun. After using "large" phones for many years, it is nice to hold a "light" phone again. The phone's design, apart from the camera, reminds me of my old Samsung S7 Edge with a curved glass sandwich with metal rims all around the sides. However, the ones on the left and right are narrower than the top and bottom. There is nothing wrong with this design, apart from the downside of having a significantly curved screen, which I find causes mistypes and accidental touches during horizontal use, like gaming. The good thing though is that you can easily adjust how much you want the phone to ignore touches on the edges of the screen to fit your liking. Another downside of being light and thin is that there is less ... » Learn More about Thin and light but also powerful
