People of all ages become deeply connected to their pets, but in the lives of teenagers, animals often play a special role. Indeed, pets provide comforts that seem to be tailor-made for the stresses of normal adolescent development. To start, animals don’t judge – and teenagers are generally subjected to a great deal of judgment. If the teenager is upset the dog won’t tell them ‘maybe you shouldn’t have said that to your friend'.”Animals give adolescents a way to be … [Read more...] about What do teenagers need? Gov’t eyes sweeteners for Marawi bonds MANILA, Philippines — The government plans to include additional features in its planned Marawi bond issuance to make it more attractive to both institutional and retail investors, the Department of Finance (DOF) said yesterday. Citing National Treasurer Rosalia De Leon, the DOF said the government has been exploring several “structures” and features for the Marawi bond offering to ensure that enough funds would be generated to bankroll the rehabilitation and reconstruction of the war-torn city in Mindanao. MANILA - With corruption allegations hounding the government left and right, President Rodrigo Duterte said he lost interest at work and regretted pursuing the country's highest office. "Nawad-an ko og ganang motrabaho. Actually, nagmahay gyud ko. Nagmahay ko nidagan ko og presidente," he said in a speech Wednesday in Cagayan de Oro, where he administered the oath of office of the city's newly elected officials. (I lost interest at work. Actually, I regretted it. I regretted running for president.) He made the remark following last year's fiasco on a deal entered by Nayong Pilipino Foundation Inc. (NPFI) and the allegedly fraudulent purchases made at V. Luna Medical Center of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP). "They allowed a casino to be erected without a public bidding. Nisurop akong dugo... What's the essence of a casino inside Nayong Filipino? Nganong ibutang nimo diha? How stupid," he said. (They allowed a casino to be erected there without a public bidding. I got so … [Read more...] about News Duterte: I regretted running for president
By Christine Sismondo Special to the Star Sun., May 12, 2019 Does the world need another energy drink? Several entrepreneurs seem to think so, despite the fact that a search on Amazon for the word “protein” turns up some 40,000 shakes, powders, cookies, protein-enhanced foods, power bars and supplements. And, as of 9 a.m. on May 16, when Toronto innovators Amar Gupta and Josh Barr launch brüst, a low-sugar, cold-brew coffee enhanced with grass-fed protein, it’ll be some 40,001. That momentous event will happen at the DROP Boxing studio (161 Spadina Ave.). Why do we need brüst? According to Gupta and Barr, it’s an alternative to the energy and protein drinks they encountered when training for their competitions — squash and Ironman distance triathlons, respectively — which they felt were all too sugary, chalky-tasting, or pricey. This confirms all the worst fears of a person (me) who has never had a protein drink or, … [Read more...] about Do you need a protein bar?
