A university student who molested a woman was given probation yesterday after the judge rejected the prosecution's call for a custodial sentence. Citing her reasons, District Judge Jasvender Kaur described Terence Siow Kai Yuan's offences as "minor intrusions" several times. She also noted that the probation report had found Siow suitable for probation as his academic results show he has the "potential to excel in life". Siow, 23, was given 21 months of supervised probation after pleading guilty to one charge of outraging the modesty of a 28-year-old woman. Two similar charges were taken into consideration. A Deliveroo rider on an e-scooter who knocked down a toddler at Nex shopping mall earlier this year was yesterday given probation. Neo Jia Ming, 20, was riding his e-scooter on the fourth storey of Nex mall at 7.10pm on March 18 when he saw the three-year-old boy walking out of a gift shop. Neo could not stop in time and the e-scooter hit the toddler on his forehead, causing him to fall backwards and hit his head on the floor. The corridor was crowded at the time. Neo stopped his e-scooter and gave his name and contact number to the mother. He then left to do a delivery. The boy was taken to the National University Hospital and discharged on the same day. PLEADED GUILTY Neo pleaded guilty to a charge of causing hurt by rash act last month. A 1965 Aston Martin DB5 outfitted with special gadgets for James Bond, such as tire slashers, machine guns and a bulletproof shield, will go up for auction in August, the auction house announced on Wednesday. The vehicle painted gray is expected to fetch between $4 million and $6 million, according to a statement from RM Sotheby's. The car was never seen in Bond films, but matches the one that "007" - the code number by which Bond was often known - drove in the movies Goldfinger and Thunderball. Gov’t eyes sweeteners for Marawi bonds MANILA, Philippines — The government plans to include additional features in its planned Marawi bond issuance to make it more attractive to both institutional and retail investors, the Department of Finance (DOF) said yesterday. Citing National Treasurer Rosalia De Leon, the DOF said the government has been exploring several “structures” and features for the Marawi bond offering to ensure that enough funds would be generated to bankroll the rehabilitation and reconstruction of the war-torn city in Mindanao. For one, the DOF said the government has made the Marawi bonds eligible as an alternative compliance to Republic Act 10000 or the Agri-Agra Reform Credit Act. “In preparation for the Marawi bond issuance, we’ve also been doing some features, including the agri-agra eligibility that we have secured to make the bonds more attractive,” De Leon said in a press briefing.
