The new season of BBC’s hit sci-fi show Doctor Who is winning hearts all over the world. After the critically acclaimed episode featuring the story of American civil rights activist Rosa Parks, the show went back in time to explore the Partition of India in 1947 in an episode that premiered on Sunday, Remembrance Day.In the episode titled Demons of the Punjab, the time-travelling Doctor, played by Jodie Whittaker, takes the Tardis and her friends back to India at the cusp of independence after her companion on Tardis, Yaz (played by Mandip Gill) said she wants to meet her grandmother when she was young. Chhapaak trailer: Deepika Padukone, Meghna Gulzar bring powerful and painful story of an acid attack survivor
Deepika Padukone has shared the first trailer for her upcoming film, Chhapaak. The film is directed by Meghna Gulzar and sees Deepika play Malti, a character inspired by Delhi-based acid attack victim and activist Laxmi Agarwal. The film also stars Vikrant Massey. The film’s tone and aesthetic stays true to Meghna’s no-nonsense style. It begins with the attack itself, however, we only see her falling to ground and later, getting water splashed over her in the hospital as she screams in pain. The moment and a few that follow it might leave you with goosebumps and overwhelming anger. Deepika channels the immense pain and trauma in the beginning and later, the strength to carry on. In the film’s lighter moments, she learns to live and laugh again. Vikrant’s character (a reporter) tells her there is still a long way to go and how will it work if she stayed this happy. Kerala Man Kills Wife in Plot Inspired by ‘Drishyam’, Buries Her Body Before Fleeing with Paramour
Thiruvananthapuram: Police have arrested a man and his paramour for murdering wife in Thiruvananthapuram which seems an imitation of the story from two popular South India cinema- 96 and Drishyam. The man, Premkumar and his girlfriend Sunitha Baby, murdered Vidya three months ago and buried the body in Tirunelveli in Tamil Nadu. “Both Premkumar and Sunitha were staying in Tirunelveli for two months. Once the interrogation started, they acceded to have committed the crime. Local police in the town also confirmed to have finding an unidentified corpse of a woman on September 22, the same day Premkumar had filed a man missing complaint with the police,” R Viswanath, Assistant Commissioner of Police said. The two accused Premkumar and Sunitha were friends during their school. Both the friends have moved on with their lives before they met 25 years later during a school reunion.
