New York: Teenage climate change activist Greta Thunberg responded to US President Donald Trump's mocking of her online by embracing his words on her Twitter page Tuesday. Trump stirred up fresh outrage on social media late Monday with a tweet that sneered at an impassioned speech made by the 16-year-old at the UN climate summit in New York. Her voice shaking with emotion in an address that was the defining moment of the summit, Thunberg accused world leaders of betraying her generation by failing to act on rising emissions, repeating the words "how dare you" four times. "You have stolen my dreams and my childhood with your empty words, and yet I'm one of the lucky ones," she said. "People are suffering. People are dying." "She seems like a very happy young girl looking forward to a bright and wonderful future. So nice to see!" climate skeptic Trump tweeted a few hours later, alongside a clip of the speech. The trolling of the activist -- who has been diagnosed with Asperger syndrome, … [Read more...] about ‘A Very Happy Young Girl..’: Greta Thunberg Changes Her Twitter Bio after Donald Trump’s Mocking Tweet

Illegal immigrants will be apprehended & not released: Trump
President Donald Trump has said illegal immigrants trying to enter the United States would now be apprehended at the border and, unlike the current practice, would no longer be released. Announcing a significant change in the current catch-and-release policy for illegal immigrants, Trump said Thursday they would be released only after a US court pronounces its judgement on their asylum application. If negative, they would be deported to their original country. "We are not releasing them into our country any longer. They will wait for long periods of time. We're putting up massive cities of tents; the military is helping us incredibly well," Trump said. The major policy speech days ahead of the crucial midterm poll comes because of a caravan, estimated to be comprising between 5,000-7,000 people, from three Latin American countries, El Salvador, Honduras and Guatemala. Trump has deployed military at the Southwestern border to stop them. "At this very moment, a large well-organised … [Read more...] about Illegal immigrants will be apprehended & not released: Trump
Trump wants to avoid Dec 15 tariffs, says Perdue
US President Donald Trump does not want to implement the next round of scheduled tariffs against Chinese goods on Dec. 15, but he wants "movement" from China to avoid them, US Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue said on Monday. Beijing and Washington have been embroiled in a 17-month trade war that has disrupted global grain flows, rattled markets and weighed on world economic growth. China, the top global soybean buyer, said on Monday it hoped to make a trade deal with the United States as soon as possible, before the new tariffs kick in. "I don't think the president wants to implement these new tariffs, but there has got to be some movement on their part to encourage him not to do that," Perdue said, according to an audio recording of his responses to reporters' questions. "And hopefully the signal they sent over soy and pork reductions might be that signal," he added, speaking at a National Grain and Feed Association conference in Indianapolis. Beijing said on Friday it would … [Read more...] about Trump wants to avoid Dec 15 tariffs, says Perdue

China sees US delaying December 15 tariff hike as talks drag
By Jenny Leonard, Shawn Donnan and Niu Shuping Chinese officials expect President Donald Trump to delay a threatened tariff increase set for Sunday, giving more time to negotiate an interim trade deal that both sides continue to insist is close to fruition despite a series of missed deadlines, according to people familiar with the discussions. The two sides, staying in almost daily contact, have also come closer to an agreement on scaling back the tariffs already in place. But rather than removing or rolling back existing levies, the focus has been on reducing the rate of the tariffs already in effect, according to officials and other people familiar with the talks. The Trump administration has so far not sent a clear signal on its willingness to agree to a delay on tariffs set to take effect on Dec. 15 on a list comprising some $160 billion of imports from China including consumer items like smartphones and toys. “It’s the president’s decision,” White House … [Read more...] about China sees US delaying December 15 tariff hike as talks drag
