The British Fashion Council (BFC) has announced the winners of its Newgen initiative. The Newgen program, which celebrates emerging fashion design talent by offering young creatives financial support, showcasing opportunities and mentorship, aims to help fledgling designers develop and strengthen their brands. Recipients for the initiative's 2019-20 edition include the womenswear designer Richard Quinn, who was presented with the inaugural Queen Elizabeth II Award for British Design last year by Queen Elizabeth II herself. Charles Jeffrey Loverboy, Halpern and Matty Bovan were also among the 19 designers to make the cut, while Eftychia was named the 'Newgen One to Watch'. PETALING JAYA: Axiata Digital Sdn Bhd, the digital services arm of Axiata Group Bhd, is selling its digital ventures portfolio at a valuation of US$140 million (about RM579 million) to Pegasus 7 Ventures Pte Ltd. The group said in a statement today that the sale involves ownership stakes in digital businesses such as India’s largest rural commerce platform, StoreKing and global micro-insurance company BIMA. According to Axiata Digital, the portfolio is largely focused on companies that address the needs of under-served consumers and encompass services such as micro-insurance, online to offline (O2O)/rural commerce, e-commerce, last mile solutions for banks and e-mobile virtual network operator (e-MVNO) segments. The day after the Progressive Conservative government tabled its first budget earlier this month, officials told the Canadian Independent Music Association that the Ontario Music Fund would be reduced from $15 million to $7 million. The association’s president said he had expected the fund would receive less money, given the government’s aim of tackling the deficit. “I wasn’t surprised that the fund was going to receive a cut,” said Stuart Johnston. “I was surprised by the depth of the cut.
