Shandong Airlines requests compensation from Boeing for 737 Max grounding

Video PlayerClose JINAN, May 23 (Xinhua) -- Shandong Airlines has officially requested compensation from the Boeing Company for economic losses due to the grounding of its 737 Max aircraft and delayed delivery of future planes, the airline said Thursday. The airline halted operation of seven aircraft, including five delivered last year and two delivered in the first quarter of this year, the company said. The airline's claim followed three compensation requests from China Eastern Airlines, Air China and China Southern Airlines earlier this week. China was the first to halt the commercial operations of all Boeing 737 Max 8 airplanes after a deadly Ethiopian Airlines plane crash on March 10. It was the second crash of the new aircraft after one operated by Indonesia's Lion Air crashed in October last year, triggering global scrutiny and bans on operating Boeing 737 Max aircraft. Sri Krishnadevaraya University VC dies after heart attack

Anantapur-based Sri Krishnadevaraya University (SKU) Vice-Chancellor M. Jayaraj, 59, died following a massive heart attack in the early hours of Monday. A professor of economics, he is survived by wife and son.After a felicitation function in Anantapur on Sunday afternoon, he boarded a private travels bus for Vijayawada in the night and when the bus was near Dhone, he felt pain around 1 a.m. and raised an alarm. A doctor among the passengers came to his rescue and he was taken to Dhone Government Hospital, but was declared dead. With a history of heart problem, he had undergone procedure for inserting a stent.Known for his cordial relations for fellow teachers and administrative capabilities, he was appointed Vice-Chancellor (FAC) in October 2019 by the present government. 12 Hyundai, Kia Cars Receive Top Safety Honors in U.S.

December 20, 2018 10:34 Hyundai and its affiliate Kia have seen 12 of their models awarded top safety honors by the U.S. Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. The IIHS released its safety rankings for the 2019 model-year on Wednesday.
