Olympics: Rugby gets Tokyo Games test events back under way with three months to opening
TOKYO (REUTERS) - The Tokyo Olympics organisers held a test event for rugby at Tokyo Stadium on Thursday (April 21), as they look to regain momentum in their preparations for the opening of the Games in three months. Organisers restarted test events this month after a long hiatus due to the Covid-19 pandemic, but several have already been postponed or moved outside Japan because of the disruption the coronavirus has caused to scheduling and international travel. Water polo and BMX cycling have been delayed, diving has been rescheduled, and artistic and marathon swimming will be held outside the country. Olympic test events are important dress rehearsals to confirm the operational capabilities of the venues. Thursday's rugby event was considered an "operational test" that did not involve official matches, and no international players or spectators were present. Players from the Japanese national women's and men' sevens teams took part in the test event, with the women ... » Learn More about Olympics: Rugby gets Tokyo Games test events back under way with three months to opening

Indy 500 to host largest sports event in pandemic
The Indianapolis 500 is set to be the largest sporting event in the world since the start of the pandemic with 135,000 spectators permitted to attend “The Greatest Spectacle in Racing” next month. Indianapolis Motor Speedway said Wednesday it worked with the Marion County Public Health Department to determine that 40 percent of venue capacity can attend the May 30 race on Memorial Day weekend. The speedway is the largest sporting facility in the world with more than 250,000 grandstand seats and the ability to host close to 400,000 on race day throughout the entire property. The attendance figure was determined after Indianapolis hosted the NCAA men’s basketball tournament through March and into April with limited attendance. The NCAA allowed 8,000 fans at Lucas Oil Stadium for the April 5 men’s championship game. The Alabama spring football game last weekend hosted 47,218 fans, nearly 10,000 more than a recent Texas Rangers baseball game; an Australian Rules cricket match in ... » Learn More about Indy 500 to host largest sports event in pandemic

SINGAPORE - Businesses today have all the tools they need to transform for the digital economy, but the key to success lies in being able to leverage these tools both quickly and effectively. This was the message from tech industry players at the inaugural Ministry of Communications and Information's (MCI) Insights Conference on Monday (Nov 16). "The first step is simply to digitalise. Don't be afraid to do so, and to get used to online tools such as e-invoicing, e-logistics or e-commerce marketplaces which are already out there," said Paypal Singapore chief executive officer Aaron Wong. "The second thing is to find an ecosystem partner you can trust to protect your data and your transactions amid the sheer volume of digital commerce that's going on." Paypal is one of a number of companies offering digital solutions to businesses under the Infocomm Media Development Authority's SMEs Go Digital programme.
