January 29, 2013 08:24 Actor Kwon Sang-woo seems to be successfully returning to the spotlight from which he has faded in the last few years as he is appearing in a hit Chinese movie and a popular new SBS drama that is garnering positive feedback from TV viewers and critics alike. The soap, "King of Ambition," revolves around a man who takes revenge on his ex-girlfriend after she betrays him. In the first few installments of the show, Kwon focuses on showing his utter devotion to his partner. "I think we have made a good start. I appreciate the good reviews of my acting skills, but the most important thing is that we get high viewing figures," he said with a smile. Kwon rose to fame with hit movies including "My Tutor Friend" and "Once Upon A Time in High School." But since the late 2000s, he has been out of luck in selecting the right films. "I didn't realize it at the time, but in retrospect I probably went through a bit of a slump," he said. "I often felt as though I was out of … [Read more...] about Kwon Sang-woo Wins Back Fans as Jilted Lover in SBS Soap

Ex-spy poisoning: Use of nerve agent ‘unacceptable’, says UN Chief
New York: UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has condemned the use of a nerve agent in an attack in Britain on a former Russian spy and branded it as "unacceptable." "The use of nerve agents as a weapon under any circumstances is unacceptable and its use by a state will constitute a serious violation of international law," China's state-run news agency Xinhua reported, citing UN spokesman Farhan Haq as saying in a press briefing. "While the secretary-general is not in a position to attribute responsibility, he strongly condemns the use of any nerve agent or chemical weapons and hopes the incident will be thoroughly investigated," Haq told reporters. The comments reportedly came before an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council called at Britain's request to discuss the attack that left ex-spy Sergei Skripal and his daughter in critical condition. Retired military intelligence officer Skripal, 66, and his daughter, Yulia, 33, were found slumped on a bench in Salisbury city … [Read more...] about Ex-spy poisoning: Use of nerve agent ‘unacceptable’, says UN Chief
Uddhav Thackeray creating ‘investment unfriendly’ Maharashtra image, ex-CM Devendra Fadnavis
Former Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis on Monday alleged his successor Uddhav Thackeray has created an 'investment unfriendly' image of the state by ordering a stay on projects such as Metro 3 carshed. Soon after taking charge as chief minister on November 28, Thackeray ordered a stay on construction of Metro 3 carshed in Aarey Colony and gave directions for review of several big-ticket projects, including bullet train, started or approved when the BJP was in power. Speaking to Marathi daily 'Loksatta' here, Fadnavis said, "Not a single infrastructure project can be completed without cutting down trees. "The Uddhav Thackeray-led new government in Maharashtra should not give a message of state being unfriendly to investment. Industry people are now sitting tight and thinking whether Maharashtra is still investment friendly or not," he said. At a BMC meeting a few months ago, the BJP has voted in support of cutting more than 2,000 trees to make way for the Metro 3 … [Read more...] about Uddhav Thackeray creating ‘investment unfriendly’ Maharashtra image, ex-CM Devendra Fadnavis

Ex-IAS officer Shah Faesal’s party not to contest LS elections, urges people to vote
Former IAS officer Shah Faesal on Saturday said his recently formed party, Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Movement (JKPM), will not contest the upcoming Lok Sabha polls, but asked the people to vote in large numbers for electing the "right candidates". "We have had several meetings of the core group of our party over the past few days and we have decided that we will not contest the Lok Sabha elections this time," Faesal told reporters here. The former IAS officer said the main reason for not contesting the polls was to focus more on the mass contact programme. "The unanimous view was that we are a party still in the stages of infancy and that we should also focus on mass contact programme. This was also our response to those elements who were accusing us of being stooges of the Centre for dividing votes in the current elections," he said. He said it will be communicated in due course of time as to which party or candidates the JKPM cadres will support. Faesal, however, said people … [Read more...] about Ex-IAS officer Shah Faesal’s party not to contest LS elections, urges people to vote
