Mumbai : Jumbo Covid-19 hospitals have gone on a recruiting spree once again with an increase in admissions in the past few days. With a sharp increase in positive cases , private ICUs have started to fill up, while wards have seen an uptick in admissions as well. At BKC’s jumbo Covid-19 hospital, dean Dr Rajesh Dere said they have been hiring doctors, nurses and ward boys for the past two days. The hospital on Thursday had 321 patients, up from an average of 180 till last week. “We have nearly 700 active beds, but we are hiring manpower that is needed to run 2,000 beds,” Dere said. For now, the plan is to recruit over 200 doctors and staffers. The ICU occupancy has now gone up to 40 from an average of 30 till last week. A similar recruitment drive was underway at the Nesco jumbo hospital in Goregaon. ‘Discoms in Haryana passing off power theft as sales to farmers’
Senior IAS officer Ashok Khemka has written to the finance and electricity departments of the Haryana government, pointing out that power distribution companies in the State were trying to pad off power theft as sales to farmers. Mr. Khemka, who is currently Principal Secretary, Archaeological Department (Haryana), has written to both the departments, stating that the “Haryana Electricity Regulatory Commission (HERC) has been admitting inflated claims of discoms for agriculture pumpset (AP) sales to farmers, burdening the public with huge Rural Energy (RE) subsidies. IAS officer Sitaram Kunte has been appointed as the chief secretary of Maharashtra , while his batchmate Praveen Pardeshi has been superseded. Mumbai: Two persons have been nabbed in Virar town of Maharashtra for making fake ATM cards and stealing money from several bank accounts, police informed on Saturday. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Dr Mahesh Patil said, "On February 2, cops received a tip-off about some people stealing money from bank accounts using a skimmer device to make fake ATM cards." A team of police then raided the Gadagpada locality of Virar and caught hold of the two accused. BMC lodges FIR against three marriage halls in Kalina for flouting COVID-19 rules
Mumbai: The Mumbai Police on the complaint of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation ( BMC ) has registered an FIR against three marriage halls in Kalina for violating COVID-19 rules. All three halls, located on CST Road in Kalina, had at least 200 guests inside each of them on Friday. Social distancing norms were not adhered to and many of the guests were even spotted moving around and interacting with others without masks. "Authorities of the BMC's health department who were on supervision duty on Friday night spotted the violations at the three halls," an official said. Mumbai: Dharavi , which has been witnessing a rise in the daily case count once again, reported eight new cases of coronavirus on Saturday. COVID-19: India records 16,577 fresh infections
India recorded its single-day increase in coronavirus cases above 16,000 for the second consecutive day as the infection tally rose to 1,10,63,491, while the recoveries have surged to 1,07,50,680, according to data updated by the Union health ministry on Friday.
