WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump on Wednesday complained that the often friendly Fox News television network is not loyal enough and has stopped “working” for him. “Fox isn’t working for us anymore!” he said at the end of three tweets expressing outrage that the network had given too much airtime to Democratic party opponents. As US president, Trump has no equivalent of the state TV channel used to serve leaders in many less free countries, like Russia. But for much of his first term he’s at least been able to rely regularly on Fox for friendly coverage. While Trump routinely lashes other networks as “fake news,“ he or his top aides make almost daily appearances to give often softball interviews on Fox. His former spokeswoman Sarah Sanders has just been hired by the network. And while the news division at Fox keeps a straighter line, some key Fox commentators like Sean Hannity seemingly work in lockstep with the White House. THE first trailer has debuted for Bombshell – the film which centers on the former Fox News sex scandal and stars actresses Charlize Theron, Nicole Kidman and Margot Robbie in the lead roles as Megyn Kelly, Gretchen Carlson, and producer Kayla Pospisil, respectively. The movie, which recounts the stories of the three female Fox News personnel and their interactions with Roger Ailes leading up to his downfall, is due in theatres on Dec 20 and audiences have now been treated to a thrilling teaser of what’s to come. Starting out with chilling music, the first preview sees Robbie in character as Pospisil walking through the news station’s offices, attracting the attention of a reporter (Kate McKinnon) on her way to take an uncomfortable elevator ride with the other two former female Fox News personalities (Kelly and Carlson). The footage from Jay Roach-directed drama, which is little more than a minute long, is interspaced with a lead line which reads: “What started … [Read more...] about First trailer for Fox News film Bombshell debuts
WASHINGTON - Last month after Donald Trump watched Fox News lob what he called "softball questions" at a Democratic lawmaker, the US president delivered a crisp smackdown of his favorite network: "Fox sure ain't what it used to be." After years of often fawning coverage by Fox, particularly from its pro-Trump anchors like Sean Hannity, the commander in chief appears to be tilting his media gaze toward a younger, more right-wing rival, cable outfit One America News Network (OANN). The small upstart broadcaster was launched only recently, in 2013, by technology millionaire Robert Herring, who sought a more conservative alternative to mainstream media behemoths like CNN. Today it seeks to outfox Fox by drawing extra attention from Trump, who has been voicing his displeasure with the ratings leader over everything from presidential polling to its hosting of Democratic candidate town halls. Last week in a tweet to his 63 million followers, the president managed to disparage Fox and his … [Read more...] about Is Trump’s love affair with Fox News fading?
WASHINGTON -- President Donald Trump criticized Fox News again Sunday in the latest hint that he is souring on what has been his favorite and most faithful news outlet. As part of a flurry of afternoon tweets, Trump took the conservative network to task for interviewing Democratic presidential hopeful Pete Buttigieg, the 37-year-old mayor of South Bend, Indiana. "Hard to believe that @FoxNews is wasting airtime on Mayor Pete, as Chris Wallace likes to call him. Fox is moving more and more to the losing (wrong) side in covering the Dems," Trump wrote, alluding to the Fox interviewer. Trump added: "Chris Wallace said, 'I actually think, whether you like his opinions or not, that Mayor Pete has a lot of substance...fascinating biography.' Gee, he never speaks well of me." Trump again mocked Buttigieg, referring to him as Alfred E. Neuman, the goofy, gap-toothed cover boy with protruding ears of US humor magazine Mad. "Alfred E. Newman will never be president," Trump wrote, using a more … [Read more...] about News Trump attacks Fox News in latest sign of strain
