Alsons net income hits P1.87 billion in 2020
Alsons Consolidated Resources Inc. (ACR) posted a consolidated net income of P1.87 billion in 2020 from P974 million a year ago, on the back of full operation of its power plants in Mindanao amid the pandemic. In a disclosure to the local bourse, ACR said net income attributable to the parent was at P325 million, a significant increase from P148 million recorded in 2019. The publicly listed company of the Alcantara Group said consolidated revenues in 2020 also grew by 39.2 percent to P9.47 billion from P6.80 billion year-on-year. Man in police custody after US massage parlour shootings leave 8 dead
ATLANTA: Shootings at two massage parlours in Atlanta and one in the suburbs on Tuesday (Mar 16) evening left eight people dead, many of them women of Asian descent, authorities said. A 21-year-old man suspected to be involved in the shootings was taken into custody in southwest Georgia hours later after a manhunt, police said. The attacks began around 5pm local time, when five people were shot at Youngs Asian Massage Parlor in a strip mall near a rural area in Acworth, about 50 km north of Atlanta, Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Captain Jay Baker said. Road blast injures 8 volunteers
Eight security volunteers were injured in a bomb attack while patrolling along a highway in Yala's Muang district yesterday, according to police. They were reportedly alerted to the burning of tyres in the area. It is believed that the attackers burned the tyres to lure them before the bomb was triggered. The blast was reported at 1am as the team of volunteers was inspecting the burning tyres on Highway 410 in tambon Budee. Found near the tyres was a suspicious package which turned out to be a plastic bucket. However, as the team was about to leave the scene, a bomb hidden nearby went off. The wounded men were rushed to Yala Regional Hospital where one of them was said to be in critical condition. LABUAN (Bernama): Seventy-four people from about 15 families in Kampung Gersik here have been made homeless when four wooden houses were razed Saturday (March 20).
